Komani Lake: Shala River Boat Tour (Koman/Shkoder)

Description
Shala River makes you do a double take—turquoise water, steep cliffs, and that calm “we’re really here?” feeling. Locals call it the Albanian Thailand for a reason. The ride there is half the fun: a panoramic cruise across Komani Lake, with mountain views and narrow canyon stretches made for photos. You’ll pass quiet bays and tiny lakeside villages, with the Albanian Alps in the background on clear days. On board, you’ll travel on a roomy boat (up to 52 guests) with a multilingual crew, so things run smoothly without feeling rushed. Start in Koman or take the easy transfer from Shkodër—once you’re on the water, the pace changes. Drinks are available to buy on board. Seats are comfy, and the crew keeps the day simple and safe, too! Then it’s your time at Shala: swim, float, try kayaking if it’s available on-site, or grab a spot on the rocky riverbank and relax. No forced agenda—just fresh air and clear water. Life jackets are provided and guests are insured, so you can focus on the fun.

We really enjoyed the activity. If you travel with kids is nice and safe the trip with the boat. There you can relax by getting a sunbed or you can rent kayaks to do water activities in the lake. The people working in the boat like Samuel were very friendly and very nice, they helped us getting to the car and skipping a 1,2km walk.
Thank you very much for your kind review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the trip and felt safe and relaxed during the experience. We hope to welcome you again in the future
The bus that was supposed to pick us up came last. It was a very crowded bus with no leg room. We were driven to the lake for 1 and 1/2 hour just the driver no guide. At the boat on the river Shala was chaos Hundreds of people, organizers screaming at people very rude. We were board on one boat then a guy came and told us one of us has to leave ( it was me and my spouse) when we refused they moved us on another boat that in Viator is described as “roomy boat with drinks for sale and guide”. This boat was so crowded that we were sitting on diner chairs on the middle of the boat they were 6 dinner chairs. The “guide” was sleeping in front of the boat. Nature beautiful on the way mountains and river just patches of garbage here and there on the way We arrived at the beach where we could rent chairs . On the rocky beach there were tens of boats parked so you could swim in between boats and in strong smell of gasoline Indeed beautiful nature but the trip is very disappointing.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry the experience did not meet your expectations. During the peak season, the Shala River area is extremely popular and can become very busy, which may affect boarding times, organization, and space on boats factors that are managed locally and outside our direct control
