We are delighted to honour this tradition of entertainment and hospitality today at Knappogue Castle. Surrounded by the flickering glow of candlelight and the sounds of traditional music, you'll be treated to an evening of authentic medieval entertainment and a sumptuous banquet. You are greeted at the main door of the castle by the Earl’s Butler and the Ladies of the castle where you proceed to the Dalcassian Hall. Mingle with the Castle Entertainers and savour a goblet of mead (honey wine). Enjoy music of the harp and fiddle followed by Medieval choral singing from the Ladies. Absolutely delightful experience. A couple from our travel group was asked to participate in a skit and they did an excellent job! The musicians and dancer was beautiful and the food was very good. We were greeted with honey mead and seated in a medieval setting, water and wines were on the tables, and your meal was served during performances.
This was a perfect start to our vacation! We chose this place because we were looking for something more formal and showcasing talent more than jest, and it was exactly what we wanted. The harpist was phenomenal! The violinist was also great! And the singing was wonderful. Our absolute favorite was the irish dancer though! He was beyond impressive! We loved the food experience and the staff that waited on us was quick and very attentive. We wouls definitely do it again. 10/10
We loved the banquet! The food was delicious. We had one vegetarian in our group and they accommodated him well. So fun to be in a castle. The entertainment was great! All the actors were friendly and welcoming. A great night.
Excellent evening. Beautiful castle, the staff were lovely and performed a great show for us all. The food was really delicious. The whole night was outstanding. Definitely would recommend to others.
The dinner in the castle was amazing. They had 4 Kings & Queens picked from all the guests. They served everyone in great fashion. The show was fantastic with dancing, singing and violin. The host interacted with the Kings n Queens though out the whole show.
As locals, we’ve been bringing visitors to the medieval banquets every couple of years, and I always felt Knappogue had a special charm compared to Bunratty. The 2025 band continues the long tradition of genuine talent we’ve enjoyed since the early 2000s, and the new tap dancer is a remarkable addition. The “bottomless” wine jugs are still part of the fun, and the food remains fine. I also prefer their use of both fork and knife — more comfortable than Bunratty’s single-knife “medieval” approach! That said, the show has clearly been trimmed down over the years. There’s no longer a welcoming speech, and the mead reception feels rushed — a small, half-filled cup you can barely sip before being herded to the banquet room. The relaxed, easygoing pace that once defined Knappogue seems to have given way to tighter scheduling and quick turnarounds between tour buses. Prices have climbed steadily, and we booked this time only thanks to a special deal. It’s still a memorable night of entertainment, but I miss the slower, warmer atmosphere that used to make Knappogue feel truly special.
This castle isn’t just a landmark — it’s alive. The moment I stepped inside, the air shifted and the walls seemed to wake, as if something ancient had been waiting in silence. The evening itself was spellbinding — angelic singing that carried through the halls like a blessing, and dancing so pure that every click of his heels sent sparks through the floor. You could feel centuries stirring with every note and step. There’s a powerful, sacred energy here for anyone who listens beyond the echoes. Walk in with an open heart, and you might just feel the castle breathe again. 100 stars, endless awe. I was absolutely mesmerized and it wasn’t just from the mead !
A special evening dinner at the castle!! The hosts excellent, the food delicious, the wine flowed plenty, the music wonderful! The transfer to another epic shocking, more shocking the dancer of the traditional dance!! I highly recommend it!!
So cute! Wish they would have something a little more for non wine drinkers. But the program was well worth the money. If you are a drinker than it’s a great deal.
