Klein Curaçao Full Day Boat Trip

This is my honest review why I think Mermaid should be your only choice to visit Klein Island. This is by far the most organized group for this type of trip. Yes this is an all day excursion but there is are several reasons why we enjoyed our day. 1) You are the first boat to get there. Yes the launch time is 7am but you get to the island first. Make sure you arrive at the dock no later than 6:30-6:40am. It is a full tour, we got there at 6:35 and we were lucky to grab the last few seats. There was maybe 6ppl who had to sit on the floor so earlier the better to get a seat. WARNING: do not travel on a full stomach or a night prior of drinking. The trip to is 1 1/2 hours and a very rough ride. You will travel against the tide and it is a doozy. We saw 6-7 ppl experience motion sickness and couldn’t hold their cookies!!! But the island is incredible so worth the bumpy ride. My advice-avoid sitting in the back of the boat!! 2) Klein Island is the highlight of our trip!!! Best beach is Curacao is you want a true sandy beach!!! Mermaid tours has their own designated beach club with palapas, covered dining area, beach loungers, bathrooms, showers, snorkel gear, and a three story viewing tower (only tower in Klein). They also provide a masseuse service! This was key bc other boat tours do not have these amenities or minimal palapas. No other tours are allowed to use the Mermaid facilities. Everyone was settled in for at least 45 min before other boats tours came so it felt awesome being the only group so early on Klein. Bring sunscreen, towels, floaties, and your phone to take plenty of pics and videos!! The viewing tower was fun to view the whole island. Only complaint was maybe the food. Breakfast was Sammy’s and fruit (it was okay) and lunch was average but who cares you’re on a sandy beach. They provide plenty of water, sodas, and a full service bar. Remember alcohol is a separate cost to the trip so bring your credit card if you choose to drink. They also provide a guide map of the best way to walk around the island. Tour maps are provided in English, Dutch, and Spanish. Touring the island is a must but you need to wear gym shoes or water shoes to walk the island. Note-you will see other tours arrive and again their beach facilities were very minimal or not as maintained compared to Mermaid. They also do not have palapas like Mermaid’s beach club. 3)The day ended around 3:30 pm for the hour trip back, NOTE-ride back is smoother and not as bumpy back to Curacao. They do ask you to put your loungers back where your grabbed them from storage area which was no proline. Everyone did it without complaints, it helps the staff prep you to get back home. All in all this was an amazing time and worth every penny spent. The crew are very professional and helpful so PLEASE PLEASE TIP THEM!!! TBH I didn’t see a lot of ppl tipping them at the end of the trip but it seemed only the American tourists tipped at the end of the day. A small tip does go a long way with them so please be mindful they are giving you the best service they can representing Mermaids Tours! And there you have it why I think Mermaid is the only and best day excursion company to Klein Island. Thank you Mermaid Tours and their staff for an incredible beach day!!!!

Had a wonderful day on Klein Curaçao with Mermaid! The boat departed exactly at 07:00. When you arrive on the island, after the briefing you will have breakfast with sandwiches and fruit and a well-catered BBQ in the afternoon. Drinks were also more than enough. The crew took very good care of the people who got seasick on the boat. Tip: if you know you are more susceptible to motion sickness, take a travel pill an hour before the boat trip, that makes the 1.5-hour trip much more pleasant. What I personally found a shame was that at the briefing it was said that you could ask the people in the light blue shirt anything about the turtles. But when I came out of the water snorkeling at the beach that was cordoned off and I stopped to see what they were doing because I wanted to ask some things about the turtle nests, before I could say anything, a woman was kneeling in the sand, snapped something at me that I couldn't understand, and then again. I was even still at the water's edge, the rope was still a meter or three further away, so I wasn't even very close and hadn't said anything yet. I just walked through and apparently that was good because she watched to see if I walked through. The same working group for the turtles also sat at the same long picnic table as us for breakfast and went there to smoke, which is really disgusting when you are eating. Had a great day!

If you want a local to show you the "real" island go with Eric. From the geological formation of this unque island to the vibrant cultures of Otrobanda and Punda, you will see the island at a depth you will not be able to reach on your own. History and wildlife, local "hidden" gems and beaches are all expolored on your private tour. I recommend you book this tour!

It’s as Beautiful as they say! Miles of White sandy beach. The crew was very friendly. The food was delicious.

A group of 5 of us took The Mermaid over to Klein. The ride over is about 2 hours and parts can be bumpy. The island itself has the most beautiful water! It offers large huts that groups tend to share as well as lawn chairs. You are fed well! The bar offers cold beer and cocktails for an additional cost. I did see a few folks bring their own coolers. Be on the lookout for lizards and crabs galore! We also saw a few flocks of flamingos and sea turtles. Overall, a fun day with a change of scenery from our resort. Highly recommend!!

Great experience! Amazing captain and crew. The trip out to the island was good to me and my fam, but some people seemed to not fare as well. My kids had fun racing for a palapas. Breakfast was good and lunch was great. The beach was lovely and the view from the tower was cool. The most fun was the wildlife. We saw flying fish, lizards, hermit crabs, and new fish we did not see on the main island. The water was so blue and beautiful. It even rained in the beginning for 15 minutes and even that was fun. Don't forget to bring your own towel and sunscreen. If you have favorite snorkel gear and/or fins, bring it. They do have masks and snorkels. Overall, just an amazing experience we will never forget.

First rate operation. You arrive at the island before the other tour boats and the amenities included in your tour price are worth every penny. Restrooms, umbrellas, beach loungers, and snorkel gear. Breakfast was a ham and cheese sandwich after you arrive on the island. It was okay but lunch was very good. There was a fresh green salad, potato salad, coleslaw, hamburgers, chicken and ribs. Something for everyone. Plenty of soft drinks and water. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails at the bar which you pay for on your return trip from the island. Thank you to Angelo our bar tender. Your drinks were spot on. On our return trip a catamaran tour ran into problems and our tour operator came to their rescue and towed them back to the harbor. Since we are sailors ourselves, we couldn't help but notice that the crew on our boat was up to the task and did an excellent job assisting the other vessel. When we return to Curacao we will definitely book this trip again.

A fantastic day organized down to the smallest details well done everyone from the captain to the staff super rich buffet breakfast and lunch and drinks in quantity. There is also the possibility of getting massages on klein through their company. Unlike the other boats ours was super organized and they had lounge chairs and gazebos, plus a dedicated structure for the food area and it wasn't a given because other companies made guests go back up for lunch, shower bathrooms everything perfect.. compliments we spent a great Ferragosto and the sea a crazy plus. You will also find hermit crabs iguanas turtles on the island and dolphins (on the way). Staff very attentive to the needs of the guests well done everyone and thank you.
