An unforgettable Kilimanjaro experience with Altezza Travel ❤️

Our 7-day Lemosho trek with Altezza Travel, as a group of 14 climbers who became friends for life, was truly one of the best experiences — and one of the best days — of my life. Reaching the summit was incredible, but what made the journey truly unforgettable was the exceptional care, professionalism and warmth of the entire Altezza team. From the very first day, everything was incredibly well organised. Despite being in one of the most remote and challenging environments imaginable, we always felt safe, comfortable and genuinely looked after. Stanford, Rayson, Andrew, Musa, Vincent, Alan, William, Andrea, Chef Piu, Chef James and the entire porter and chef team went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. The guides and crew were incredibly supportive throughout the trek, especially during the challenging summit night. Their encouragement, patience and positivity kept us going through the cold, exhaustion and altitude. One of the most unforgettable moments was hearing the guides and porters singing to motivate us as we pushed towards the summit — a memory I will carry with me forever. The food was another incredible surprise. The variety, freshness and quality at such high altitude were amazing, and Chef Piu and Chef James somehow made every meal feel like a little luxury on the mountain. And I will never the send off dance and singing when they were sending us off to base camp! 😂 What really stood out about Altezza was the genuine sense of family. The team didn't just guide us up a mountain — they cared for us, encouraged us, laughed with us and celebrated with us.Every little gesture made a difference. I arrived hoping to conquer a mountain, but I left with incredible memories, 14 new friends. A huge thank you to the entire Altezza team for making this adventure so incredibly special. Highly recommend Altezza Travel to anyone considering Kilimanjaro. Asante sana! ❤️

Five stars aren't enough: Altezza made our Kilimanjaro climb unforgettable!

Climbing Kilimanjaro with Altezza was the most incredible and unique experience of my life, and a big part of that was the people. From day one, the team took care of us with a level of attention and warmth that I didn't know was possible on a trek like this. By the end, we didn't feel like clients. We felt like family. Our guides were the heart of the trip. Adrienne was endlessly encouraging, always knowing exactly what to say when the climb got tough. Raj was calm and steady, the kind of presence that made you feel safe no matter how high or hard it got. Hamza was always joking, and his humour kept our spirits up through the coldest mornings and longest days. And Godlove was the backbone of the whole team, quietly holding everything together and making sure nothing and no one was ever missed. When our whole group came down with colds, they became doctors on the spot, caring for us so well that we kept moving seamlessly. They also taught us so much, not just about the mountain, but about Tanzania, its people and culture, and honestly about life. And to every porter on our team: thank you. Even though we didn't get to know all of you as well as we'd have liked, every one of you was incredible, and everyone was there to help. If you're thinking about climbing Kilimanjaro, choose Altezza. You'll be in the best hands, and you'll leave with friends for life.

My birthday on Mount Kilimanjaro

I planned this trip so that I would summit Kilimanjaro on my 38th birthday. From start to finish, the excursion was flawless. We were put in a group of 10 and we became like a small family for the week of climbing we did. Kilimanjaro is absolutely beautiful. The landscapes we pass through were stunning. Our guides, Rashid, Honest, James and Musa, were knowledgeable and they went out of their way to make sure that we were happy and comfortable through out. The porters were heroes, they were able to move quickly carrying a lot of weight, and have every thing set up for us at the next camp. It was impressive how strong and swift they are, especially scaling the Barranco Wall. We would be woken usually before sunrise for a delicious breakfast and to prepare to trek. The guides would check in with us 3 times daily to be sure we were accilmatising well. There was a wonderful atmosphere of comradery throughout. By the time summit night came, we were determined to make it to the top as a team. The summit itself was the most challenging part, we began the hike at 23:30 and we got to Stella Point just before sunrise. I turned around to see the horizon glowing as the dawn approached, it was an incredible moment. We reached the summit about an hour later and it was one of the best moments I have ever experienced. For anyone who may doubt that they are able to make it the entire way, I arranged this trip to celebrated my new lease on life after having my left femur extended in 2024. My recovery was painful and I had to learn to walk again and from that moment, I was determined to reach the Roof of Africa. The trek is slow and controlled and no prior training would be required. I did experience some residual pain from my condition and my guides were there to help me with what I needed to be sure I would be able to summit. A very kind porter by the name of Jackson carried my backpack for me so that I would not suffer, and it really made a huge, positive difference. I cannot thank Rashid and his team enough for the help they provided. There were so many people on the team who I didn't even get to meet, but I am also grateful to them for all they did. I had such high expectations for this adventure, and those expectations were absolutely exceeded. I would recommend this trip with Altezza to anyone.

I Came to Summit Kilimanjaro and Left With So Much More

Words can’t even begin to express how blown away I was by the hospitality, generosity, and kindness of every single member of Altezza I interacted with. I booked this trip so excited to summit Kilimanjaro but am leaving with so much more… Altezza’s employees are a masterclass on what it means to take great pride in doing a job well done. From the beginning, my direct connection, Mariya, went above and beyond to be clear and helpful about what to expect and answered all the questions I had. The guides in our group — Albert (lead guide), Modest, Wilson, and Pascal — all had a very calm demeanor when necessary but also were able to share so many laughs with us too. I always felt that safety was the utmost priority through safety checks, knowing the signs of altitude sickness and how to treat them, and ultimately knowing when to turn back if necessary. They were also very clear about each day’s plan and made us all feel very capable and strong, while also assisting us when necessary with medicine, a helping hand, words of encouragement, and telling us the door was always open no matter the time of day or night if we needed help. As for the porters, again I have nothing but positive words…. Hard work doesn’t even begin to describe the work they do. It took all my energy to simply take care of myself, hike all day, and spend time with my group… our porters did all this plus went out of their way to make sure we were always taken care of, took our camp down and reassembled it each day, and all of this was done with a smile. The “magic,” as one of my teammates called it, that the chefs (Albert, Casey, and James) were able to do with our meals on the mountain was absolutely incredible too. Every meal had multiple courses and helped fuel us for the day. Altezza’s employees truly embody the meaning of “Hakuna Matata.” There was never a time when I felt my abundant questions were annoying to them or that I couldn’t approach them for help. And even beyond doing their job, everyone was so personable. I cannot recommend Altezza enough. One person I would like to especially call out is Michael, a porter from my group who is working to be a guide. He went to the summit with us. About 3/4 of the way up, I needed some help carrying my pack, which he so graciously carried. After reaching the summit, I was ready to return to base camp, and he offered to guide me down. A few others followed his lead and joined me. He did an amazing job guiding us down, making sure we kept a pace that was safe to help prevent us from losing our footing and offering his hand in more tricky areas. He did this all while still having my pack on his shoulders. I think Michael will be an excellent guide, and I please request that he be given this opportunity. I also request that everyone at Altezza get a raise because they deserve so much.
