Keelung Port Shore Private Customized Tour

Our tour guide arrived on time and took us to several popular spots, however there were several problems: 1) he spoke very poor English and we had a lot of trouble understanding him. 2) he gave us virtually no information about the sites he took us to, just dropping us and waiting in his car. 3) at the lunch spot he dropped us for 1.5 hours to a local market which was impossible to navigate as a tourist. We were hungry and incapable of getting a seat as a group of 6. We contacted him to pick us up and requested to go to a sit down restaurant. He spent 20 minutes driving around trying to find one for us. Not a good experience. We had specifically asked him prior to pick a good spot for lunch for us to experience Taiwanese cuisine. As a tour guide he should have had foresight Into the public holiday and an appropriate place for us to eat. For our last stop, he drove us to the memorial of the founder of Taiwan and instead of giving us some background or story he simply dropped us off, telling us he’d be back in an hour. Overall, this was not a tour but a day with a driver. We have booked dozens of tours with Viator. Almost all have been exceptional with experienced guides who have taken time and pride in their work. This one was an absolute disappointment.

Grace was out driver and she steered us clear of areas that would be overcrowded on this holiday. She was punctual and spoke good English. Just have an idea of what you want to see and do and where you want to eat. Guides are always trying to save you money and that may not be your goal. Overall, she was great. I wish I had been more prepared.

Perfect shore excursion! Jim met us at the port and whisked us to Taipei—for an amazing tour of the city. He showed us around the neighborhoods, markets, and sights. We wanted to sample local food for lunch and we fell in love with soup dumplings, pancakes, and traditional noodle soup. Jim really made our experience memorable—he was accommodating (husband uses a scooter), creative, and attentive.

Jim was THE BEST GUIDE I have ever had in a foreign city. He paid attention to everything we wanted, even things we said in passing, and turned all of it into viable options (even our odder requests, like seeing a traditional cemetery). Taipei was our disembarkation point from a cruise and Jim made it the highlight of our whole trip. He exceeded our expectations with every stop, and even added in some delightful surprise stops! I didn’t want the day to end, and now we are planning a return to this beautiful country. Thank you so much, Jim!! Would recommend emphatically.

Grace was our private driver and gave us the back story on all the sites. Lunch was at a noodle shop for locals only! It was amazing! She navigated our trip to the zoo (fantastic) and the national museum-beautiful jade She’s the best and her English was very good

Amazing was a marvel the guide took us to know 3 amazing places and changed options last minute and without any problem

Allen was the best tour guide. He communicated before he picked up up and let me know that he was already waiting for us when we disembarked. He made the day so fun and was willing to take us to all the places on our itinerary. Allen would usually park the car and many times, he would come in with us and do the translating as we either shopped or did an activity. He also took pictures of us and sent them to us. It was raining really hard and normally I am nervous to drive with someone I don't know in the rain, he was such a safe driver. His car is extremely clean and comfortable. He had stories to tell us about Taipei and made sure that we got a true taste of the city. He also recommended the perfect place for lunch (a very traditional place to eat). When we got back to the ship and were comparing notes with other passengers, we did so much more than them. We felt so lucky that Allen was open to taking us to all sorts of sites and experiences! We definitely recommend him. We have friends coming in March on a different cruise and have already told them they must use Allan for a great day in Taipei.

Jeff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. He took us to see everything we wanted to see, and was very flexible. He had a little trouble with his spoke English, but other than that, it was great.

Great flexible tour of Taipei with Grace, we saw Taipei 101 with amazing views, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall with it’s huge park, Lungshan Temple and the Ximending Walking District.
