My daughter and I shopped the three SCUBA shops in the Poipu area and picked Dive Kauai based on price. We would have been comfortable with any of the three we shopped. We met Dive Master Zach and Boat Captain Nick at the boat ramp early in the morning. We were joined by three others, making our group five plus Zach. Both previewed our dives for the morning with a discussion on hand signals and basic safety reminders. A quick orientation of the boat and location of vests and expectations was given prior to boarding. We had a short boat ride to the first dive site and saw a variety of fish and turtles around some small structures. The next site was Sheraton Caverns with more impressive structure, including swim throughs and small canyons. This site also had an impressive variety of marine life. As we boarded, humpback whales and spinner dolphins were passing by. Nick repositioned the boat so we could have a better look. Magnificent! It drizzled and rained a little during our trip. The wind was unusually strong for the days we were there, but the wind changed direction and calmed. Visibility was about 50-60 feet. Zach proved to be an excellent guide and has an eye for some of the coolest, smallest creatures. Despite the weather being less than ideal, the dive was wonderful.
I left a good review description but the viator.com just deleted it. I don't feel like rewriting it. Anyway it was awesome the crew Dominic and Drew did everything perfectly. We spent a long time at the bottom.
I wanted to get my Advanced Open Water certification and DIve Kauai was able to accomodate my training needs. Had excellent training dives with Instructor Zach, and then followed up with a couple fun dives off the boat with the Dive Kauai crew. The boat is comfortable for 6 divers, the crew was curteous and safety conscious, and the dive sites off Poipu were spectacular. All in a first rate experience, I highly recommend this crew.
I went with another friend for 3 day dive- 1st day had to do a shore dive. DM very helpful with entry as there was swell so there’s a technique for getting in. The water had viz of about 40 feet, little fish activity, lots of Hawaiian sea turtles, no soft coral & sporadic hard coral. Next 2 days of diving from a boat- totally different from shore- viz 60 feet ( could have been more but we didn’t dive deep), DM’s (Avery/Logan/boat captain) made entry/ set up easy, lots of fish, little current. I was told it’s “surge” diving but not strong on our days. I thought boat dive was easier & more enjoyable than shore dive.
I needed to do a refresher dive since it had been 3 years since I'd blown bubbles. Georgia was so patient with my nerves, had some good tips to help me feel more comfortable. We saw so many turtles. After those my dive buddy and I did the boat dives including the Sheraton Caverns. Cpt Ric and our dive leader Avery did a great job at giving us a full experience even though our first dive was a little short but found an octopus to hold. Second dive in the caverns was fantastic. Lots of fish, napping turtle, swimming through arches. Lots to see underwater and as extra bonus, the dolphins found us and swam in the bow wake on the way back to dock.
What a special time! AJ and Captain Nick were gracious hosts. If it’s turtles you want to see - this is the dive trip for you. Also, a ton of fish and marine life. Boat is for 6 divers doing a two tank dive. They supply everything to include mask, fins, 3mm wetsuit and dive computer. Did Fishbowl and Sheraton Caverns. Turtles of every size on the surface, underwater and tucked in the caverns. Big plus about AJ and Nick is they’re locals and knowledgeable about everything Kuaui. Dive was easy, visibility was so-so but experience was amazing.
An absolutely amazing dive with Georgia and Mia, Ritchie was a great boat captain. All the gear was in excellent condition and sized appropriately. Now the actual dive was incredible the Sheraton caverns dive site was definitely the highlight full of sea life, turtles, even a extremely friendly monk seal. Then had a visit of spinner dolphins on our surface interval. Absolutely stunning
Logan was a great guide! This was a PADI 2-tank dive certification, but I was not able to find it in the drop-down menu so just chose certified divers. Logan was very thorough explaining all the technical details with my husband , two nieces & I. He did a great job helping us all get used to breathing with the tank as well! When I got nervous under the water doing my skills test, he was very helpful and patient and made sure I felt safe and at ease until I was able to scuba dive on my own! Wonderful experience! He found an octopus and a whole school of about 3000 blue eyed scads!! It was awesome!
Our instructor Avery, the "Rooster" was amazing! Super competent and equally patient. Water started rough, but smoothed out to see at least 20 turtles and a ton of ocean life. Thank you Avery and Dive Kaua'i! You made the best memories!
