Guided shore dive in Kauai’s South shore location. Koloa Landing on the South Shore of Kauai offers an excellent opportunity for divers of ALL skill levels to enjoy a day out at sea. A great way to get up close and personal with some of Kauai’s favorite animals and see some of its famed undersea topography. Includes an orientation with an ecology briefing describing the animal’s ecosystems and behavioral patterns and an academic review discussing safety procedures, gear, hand signals, etc. A 15-foot to 40-foot dive at Koloa Landing offers a vibrant underwater world teeming with animals that are hard to find elsewhere. There isn't much of a swell break, and the entry is very simple. Several of the rarest creatures on Kauai have homes and breeding grounds that our instructors frequently know. For a lot of people, this dive has it all. If you ask, our instructors will gladly bring your equipment to the water.

Fathom Five is a great outfit to work with when diving on Kauai! The website works well and there wasn’t a question that went unanswered. I wasn’t sure if I should change my dive dates due to weather conditions and upon request got a quick call back with reassuring reports on the weather, water and tide conditions for my dive date. The shop is cool and the people are friendly and knowledgeable. Specifically, I want to thank Tracy for two great dives. She is so experienced but more importantly, very calming and good natured. I’m an older diver so I don’t take a lot of risks these days. Tracy made it easy and fun while making me feel safe. She really knows her stuff and is super patient and kind. The dive was relaxing and very beautiful. Thank you for a great morning Tracy and crew at Fathom Five!!!

How a staff reacts when a guest has an issue says more about them than the perfect excursion. I was unable to continue, but Julie the dive master and the boat captain Janice were so empathetic and professional. They helped me calm down and made sure I was okay. I appreciate them so much. I highly recommend these wonderful people

After doing our DSD and open water certification with Fathom Five, we have been diving with them many times. We particularly love diving with DM Julie, who is super attentive to safety but also really great about finding cool stuff underwater and sharing her enthusiasm for all things ocean related. Today we went out with Julie and Boat Captain Thomas and had great dives, despite the recent hurricane. As a bonus, we had a huge pod of dolphins swim by during our surface interval. Thanks Julie and Thomas! We're looking forward to diving with you again soon!

TL;DR: I had an amazing experience across multiple dives with Fathom Five! Great professionalism, emphasis on safety and learning, and fun! They did a great job catering to everyone from beginner divers to other divemasters. (Disclaimer that I didn't book through TA, but the actual dives I did are described below) My first dives of the week were the 2-tank Dive at Koloa Landing (shore dive) with Will. The group was just me (single digit dives) and two others who were also very new off their certification, and Will did a great job of checking in with everyone, and even offered to go through any skills we wanted before starting. The surge was about as rough as it ever gets over there while still being safe, so we struggled a little, but Will got us through it, including when I got a cramp while removing my fins near shore (which has never happened before) and totally panicked. Then I did the 2-tank Night Boat Dive with Shaun (divemaster) and Sergio (captain). I had never used a back roll entry before, but Sergio walked me through it super clearly, and answered all of my nervous questions. There was an issue with my tank on the first dive but it was handled very professionally so I always felt confident in my gear. Shaun led me on my first night dive ever where I saw some of the coolest marine life I’ve ever seen. My last day of diving was the 2-tank Boat Dive with Julie (divemaster) and Drake (captain). I had an awesome first dive, until with just a little bit to go, my left ear was unable to equalize, and I had to ascend a little early. Julie and Drake outlined all my options, and I decided I didn’t feel comfortable doing the second dive as I still couldn’t equalize even after ascent and a rest. They took me back to the harbor (so I didn’t have to sit on the boat for the next couple hours feeling nauseous) where everyone else got to have a snack and a bathroom break as well. I also got some solid tips on how to aid my ear. These things happen, and the way it was handled made me feel safe and supported, and was conducted so smoothly that it didn’t detract from anyone else’s dive time! More random things people might be interested in: - Dive computers are attached to the BCD! I hadn’t dived with my own computer since my certification so this was super cool - They don’t use buddies if you’re diving with strangers, so you’re all one big buddy group (and the divemaster will keep a close eye on you) - Snacks and water are provided! - You’re responsible for your own transportation from check-in at the dive shop to either Koloa Landing or the harbor (it’s very convenient still, but since I was getting dropped off, this tripped me up at first!). Shoutout to Sivan (sorry if I’m remembering/spelling that wrong!) though who dropped everything to give me a ride on my first day when my ride had already taken off–more examples of the people at FF being awesome! Overall, I absolutely recommend Fathom Five for everyone but especially beginners. I got to try all sorts of new things on this trip and always felt like I could do so with all of the support I could ask for, not to mention I saw so much cool marine life! Special shoutouts to Will, Shaun, Sergio, Julie, and Drake who took me on the dives throughout the week, and were all awesome.

Dove on a windy ricking sea day, but the dive was amazing. Julie & Drake were outstanding and extremely helpful. Julie is was our dive master, her lead of our dive was perfect. We saw so many things from huge turtles to tiniest nudibranchs. Eels,Eels and more eels!! Live diving with the Fathom Five divers!!!
