Larger groups pay less per person.
From the operator’s live schedule on Viator, checked Oct 4.
The tour begins with uptown Kampala Sights. Explore key landmarks of Uptown Kampala, including the Independence Monument, Mutesa II Monument, World War II Monument, Parliamentary Building, Bank of Uganda (est. 1966), Uganda National Cultural Centre (est. 1959), and Kampala Capital City Authority headquarters. Visit Nakasero Market, established in 1895 and relocated to its current city centre location in 1905. Along the way, admire Hindu temples, including Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, and other culturally significant sites.
Buganda Kingdom Tour. From Kampala’s CBD, continue to the Buganda Kingdom and visit the Kabaka’s (King’s) Palace. Explore the Idi Amin Armoury, view historical machine guns, and browse the palace pictorial while learning about Buganda’s rich history. Drive past Kabaka’s Lake and visit the Nantawetwa Monument, a site opened only when the King travels from the palace to the Buganda Parliament. Continue along the Royal Mile, sightseeing landmarks such as Bulange (Buganda Parliament), the Kabaka’s Monument, Zakaria Kisingiri House, and the Buganda Clan Symbols.

Frederick Lugard) and Old Kampala Senior Secondary School, where Rwanda’s President Kagame once studied.
Kasubi Tombs (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Next, visit the Kasubi Tombs, a revered spiritual and cultural site for the Baganda. The tombs serve as the burial ground for the last four Kabakas (Kings) of Buganda and remain a center for the royal family. Traditional rituals and cultural practices are still observed here, preserving Buganda’s rich heritage through generations.

Kalerwe Market and the Baha’i Temple. On your way to the Baha’i Temple, pass through Kalerwe Market, Kampala’s vibrant second-largest local market, perfect for snapping photos or picking up fresh fruits. Continue to Kikaya Hill to visit the Baha’i Temple, a unique spiritual landmark in Africa. Take a moment for peaceful reflection inside the temple and wander through the lush gardens, capturing memorable photos. Important Notice: The temple is closed on Mondays.
Tour the Uganda National Museum. Visit the Uganda National Museum, East Africa’s first and oldest museum, established in 1908 and relocated to its current site in 1954. Explore its rich displays of Uganda’s history, culture, and heritage, a perfect highlight of your city tour. If you're looking for an unforgettable tour experience, look no further than Mathew! From the moment we met him, it was clear that he wasn't just a guide, but someone truly passionate about sharing his knowledge and love for the area. His enthusiasm was infectious. Mathew’s depth of knowledge was impressive; whether it was historical facts, local legends, or hidden gems, he had an answer (and often a fascinating story) for everything. What really set Mathew apart was his commitment to making sure we saw as much as possible. He was always aware of time but never rushed us, adapting the tour based on our interests and ensuring we didn’t miss a thing. I can’t recommend Mathew highly enough—he truly goes above and beyond to make sure you have a memorable, enriching time.
Dear Guest, thank you for taking time off your schedule to write this amazing review. Mathew had a great time showing you around our city. Thank you for Booking with Gazelle Safari Company
Terrific day tour of Kampala. Hillary was a fantastic guide. He shuttled me around to the main sites and also customized the tour. Very interactive and interesting day. Highly recommend.
Dear Guest, Thank you for the review.
This experience was amazing! Mathew was such a patient and informative host. His excitement toward Ugandan history, culture, etc. is evident; he is bursting with energy and knowledge. I didn’t study Ugandan history well prior to my trip to Kampala, and after this experience I feel like I have a good understanding and an interest in learning more.
Dear Caitlin, We would like to thank you for choosing Gazelle Safari Company and we are glad that our services not only met but exceeded your expectations.
Fun and informative tour. My guide, Matthew, was knowledgeable and entertaining. A good way to see Kampala, without question.
Dear Kelly, Thank you for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your trip
We took a Kampala city tour and it was excellent. Matthew was helpful, funny and very enthusiastic. We loved his company, he’s really cook. We had a hangover because of partying the night before but he made our day🙂
Hi Laszlo, thank you for choosing Gazelle Safari Company to show you around Kampala. Mathew says only good things about you. He also enjoyed the trip.
I didn't have a lot of time for sight seeing in Kampala and this half tour with Gazelle Safari was the best decision ever. Mathew was my guide and he was all that and then some more. He was very polite and professional the entire time. He didn't rush me through any of the sites we visited and was very accommodating as-needed. He is very knowledgeable and learnt so much about Uganda than I would have ever thought! He is very passionate about his job too. Honestly I could go on and on about my experience but truly it was 100%. You should def book this tour and ask for Mathew. He will make you feel like you are the most important client ever!
Thank you for booking with Gazelle Safari Company and also for taking time to write this beautiful review. We are sure it will help other potential clients make the right choice.
Think you know all about Kampala? My multi-bachelors guide Mathew/Matthew will definitely suggest you otherwise (he has degrees in digital marketing, human resources, and very soon, law). To name but a few, knowledgable, critical, friendly, hospitable, are some prime qualities of Mathew. Despite only having spent half day with Mathew, I had gained a lifetime of knowledge and a lifelong friend. I am constantly overwhelmed and impressed by his passion in Kampala's history, his insights in Uganda's social situation, and his interests in sharing with me Uganda's culture. From our visits to the Kabaka's Palace, to our visits in the Uganda National Mosque and the Uganda Museum, Mathew provided all the essential information that I needed to know and provided critical answers to each question that I wished to know. Mathew knows all about the city and is also a global citizen who has in-depth knowledge of other countries, very likely even your own home country! You will be amazed as you engage in constructive conversations with Mathew. I will also have to thank you Gazelle's founder Annabel/Ann for arranging and organising this half-day tour on my last day in Uganda. This is certainly a perfect semicolon (not a full stop!) to my 8 days Uganda trip. As a solo traveller, there was never a dull moment with Mathew, who had also been entertaining, talkative and caring. Words simply cannot encapsulate how professional Mathew is. If you want something extraordinary, Mathew is the guide-to-go.
Dear Chloe, We are delighted to read this review from you. It is the perfect description of our team member Mathew and we are so proud to have him in Gazelle Safari Company. We are glad that he made you fall in love with our city. For now it is not good bye but see you Later !
I took this tour on my own after arriving in Kampala, and it was a great way to explore the city. I learned a lot about the history and culture, and I had a great experience! My tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was by car and very comfortable, it was on time, and it was very easy to arrange/schedule.
Zoey, Thank you for choosing Gazelle Safari Company for your Kampala City tour and thank you for taking time to write this amazing review. Your Guide Mathew enjoyed showing you around and said you were a lovely client!
