The Great Buddha of Kamakura is an outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha located on the grounds of Kotoku-in Temple in Kanagawa Prefecture. Standing at the height of approximately 13.35 meters, it is one of the largest and the most renowned bronze Buddha statues in Japan. Once housed in a huge hall, the Great Buddha today sits in the open air because the building was washed away by a tsunami in 1498.

Best way to see Kamakura
We spent a fantastic day exploring Kamakura with my parents and our guide, Yoshi. He was an amazing guide and provided an excellent overview of Kamakura’s history, culture, and significance, which really brought everything we saw to life.
Yoshi was knowledgeable, personable, and made the entire experience enjoyable for our family. I would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Kamakura and looking for a private, personalized tour. A fantastic experience from start to finish!

Great day in Kamakura
This was an excellent tour. Our guide Yoshi met us at the train station and efficiently took us to see the giant Buddha, the Buddhist temple and the Shinto Shrine. He was very knowledgeable and shared stories from the Shogun era. He shared a lot of info with us. We would recommend this tour.

Great Full day tour in Kamakura
Great experience in Kamakura and ended up in Yokohama for a short experience on gondola lift at Sakuragi-cho station. Our private tour guide from JGA, Yasuho Suzuki san, is very good and spoke very well english. My wife and I really enjoyed.
