The best! Amazing experience.
Stayed at The Westin Nanea in Ka'anapali and booked a shore dive with Banyan Tree. Small group, and our instructor, Sean Carpenter, was excellent.
Logistics were as easy as it gets — we met about 100 yards from the hotel, gear was already staged and in great shape. Anyone staying at the Westin in Maui, this is about as convenient as a dive can be.
Sean gave me personalized coaching on air consumption during the dive, not just generic instruction. He clearly knows the local marine life well, and it's obvious the whole Banyan Tree team genuinely cares about the reef and the animals, not just running people through a checklist.
Price was very reasonable for the quality of instruction and gear. I'm staying a few more days and already planning a second dive with them. Highly recommend.

Epic
Shane was a great dive guide. It created a lasting memory in and out of the water. A sea turtle swam up to me and hung out before swimming away, we literally made eye contact. What an epic memory. What wonderful dive trip we had diving in Maui.

Excellent guide and beautiful dive
Simon took us out to dive at Kahekili Beach Park. He went over all the important details and made me feel very safe and comfortable. He made sure to point out all the fish, turtles, and eels so we didn’t miss anything and took pictures along the way. We had so much fun and would recommend him and the Banyan Tree Divers team to everyone!

Great shore dive.
I was looking for a simple single tank dive. This was perfect. Visibility was great. Lots of beautiful fish and other critters. Our dive guide Shane was great.
The dive was directly off the beach. We stayed on the beach for hours after my dive. Perfect day.
Operator response

One Tank Shore Dive
My 11 year old Son and I did a one tank shore dive with Banyan Tree Divers. It was great. Our guide was prompt and very thorough with his briefing of the dive. He took the time to answer all of our questions without rushing us. Unfortunately, we were limited to 1 tank vs 2 tanks due to prior commitments. I would definitely recommend this dive operation and hope to dive with them again.

Memorable experience
Excellent experience. We went on two dives with Banyan and would highly recommend both. We saw an abundance of turtles, fish, a couple of sharks and several dolphins.

The dive company you want to use in Maui!
Wonderful family business that survives the Lahaina fire. Very well run with professionals all around.
Caitlin worked with me on logistics and was timely in all her responses. Met the dive instructor, Simon, at the dive site aka airport beach. He set us up (all the rental gear is excellent and new) and explained the dive to us. He handled the group (which ranged from newbies to grizzled vets like me) with joy and aplomb. The dive was fun. Lots of fish and coral including a long resident turtle (a hawksbill) that I had seen on a previous dive.
Second dive was super- the old Mala pier. Very much like diving a wreck but without the need to dive deep.
Highly recommend Banyan Tree Divers.

Amazing Maui dive!!!
We did 2 shore dives with Kevin. We were nervous as this was only our second dive after getting certified in Minnesota. Kevin gave us constructive feedback and encouragement to continue on to the second dive site Mala wharf. It was amazing!!!

Great Experience
My wife and I booked this trip as part of a stop on our Hawaii cruise. We almost canceled a few times because of the uncertainty of traveling near Lahaina and what is the ethical thing to do right now. I am glad we didn’t. Kevin was great as was the whole experience. For those who are apprehensive, don’t be. These guys are local outfitters and appreciate tourism dollars. There are a lot of mixed messages right now so I am glad we were able to support a local business.
Operator response
Aloha, thank you for sharing your experience diving with Banyan Tree Divers! We are glad that you found us. Your mindfulness regarding the healing of Lahaina is appreciated. It’s a tough time because so many rely on tourism, but we are all still healing and it’s hard to host after such a trauma. As long as visitors come with mindfulness and kindness, all are welcome. Thank you for being that person. We hope to welcome you back to Maui for more diving in the future!
