Itinerary
Drive through Downtown Juneau. We pass historic buildings from the 1900's mining boom, including the oldest currently operating hotel in Alaska! We also pass the Alaska Capitol, the seat of state government, and the Governor’s Mansion.
See Juneau landscapes from the south tip of Douglas Island. Also see some of the ruins, like the pump house, of the Treadwell Mine, a gold mine which collapsed over one hundred years ago.
A majestic, life-sized bronze whale statue stands as an artistic commemoration of over fifty years of Alaskan statehood. Panoramic views of the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island. Photo opportunities abound.
This gorgeous lake has the stunning Mendenhall Towers mountain range as its backdrop, and you can catch a glimpse of the Mendenhall Glacier. Relative to an on-site photo taken a century ago, one can see how dramatically the glacier has changed over time.
A great photo op of the Mendenhall Glacier, with a beautiful meadow of fireweed in the foreground! You will also learn about the recent yearly flooding of the Mendenhall River.
Whether you consider yourself religious or not, this sacred location offers stunning views of its well-kept grounds, as well as the surrounding mountains and ocean. Eagles and whales may be spotted, as well as spawning salmon (depending upon the month).
You'll learn about the complete salmon life cycle. Inside the hatchery includes two touch pools, a cylindrical aquarium, and a gift shop. (Note: The outside salmon ladder opens June 21; wildlife like eagles, seals and sea lions can usually be spotted).

Very beautiful excursion and experience. We had good exchanges with the guide, Allan, and he adapted the tour to our group. As French speakers, we did not have any trouble understanding him or making ourselves understood. The stopover points were all well-chosen and interesting. We highly recommend it.
Thank you, Emily! :-)
Allan was an awesome tour guide! He was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and communicative. His car was clean and comfortable for all 5 of us. We really enjoyed the locations he took us to and he made sure that we got back to our cruise ship well before gangway up. We would highly recommend his tour to anyone looking for a way to see more of Juneau without having to go on a crowded tour bus. It was a beautiful day that surpassed our expectations!
Thank you so much, Stacey! Safe travels home.
Our private tour with Allan was a great way to see many highlights of the Juneau area.. the salmon hatchery is a must see.. truly fascinating! That was just one of our stops. Allan is a great tour guide with tons of information. Our time flew by and we even came upon several bald eagles at the harbor that we were able to see close up… incredible!
Thanks Jen. It was a lot of fun, and I agree about the hatchery! And those awesome eagles! Safe travels back home. Allan

Allan was wonderful and he is great at working with your cruise ship schedule. He was great about sharing info about the area. He can adjust your tour to fit what you want to see. Loved this tour and would highly recommend it. His SUV was very comfortable and he was great about keeping us updated on when and where to meet him. Really enjoyed this tour.

Allan provided our entire family with an exceptional and engaging experience. We thoroughly enjoyed every stop along the tour, and his knowledge and expertise added tremendous value beyond anything we could have planned on our own. He even followed up after the tour to provide additional information and insights in response to our questions, which made the experience even more meaningful. You can be confident that Allan will take excellent care of you and your family throughout the tour.
Thank you, Canita, for your considerate review. Safe travels back to Florida!
Allan was super informative and kept in touch up until the tone of the tour. He even picked us up early since he didn’t have a tour at the time slot before ours; this allowed us to go to the hatchery before it closed. Highly recommend this tour!
Thank you, Myla. I’m so glad we got to go to the hatchery! It’s a Juneau gem, with a lot to learn about, even before the fish return in late June. Safe travels home! Allan
