Interlaken day trip by bus from Geneva

We booked the Panoramic Glass-Roof Bus Tour to Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald with KeyTours from Geneva because the panoramic bus was the main attraction and the itinerary promised guided sightseeing with free time in all three destinations. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete disappointment. About 10 minutes after leaving Geneva, it became obvious that the air conditioning had failed. Instead of cool air, the bus was blowing hot air, making the journey extremely uncomfortable. We stopped for around an hour while the driver tried to fix the problem, and there were no restroom facilities available. We were then taken to a service station to wait another hour for a replacement bus. When the replacement finally arrived, it was not the advertised panoramic glass-roof bus, the very reason we had chosen this tour. Because of the two-hour delay, the itinerary had to be shortened. We completely missed the advertised visits to Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen, leaving us with only a very limited amount of time in Grindelwald. The driver acknowledged that the situation was not his fault and advised passengers to submit a complaint to KeyTours because the company had failed to provide the proper vehicle. The worst part came at the end of our stop in Grindelwald. We were running only a few minutes late and had no way to contact the driver because KeyTours had provided no telephone number for either the company or the guide. We called another passenger on the bus, who repeatedly asked the driver to wait, explaining that we were only two minutes away. Despite this, the driver left without us. As tourists unfamiliar with Switzerland, we were stranded in Grindelwald and had to purchase train tickets back to Geneva at an additional cost. We eventually made our own way back after an unnecessarily stressful journey. Overall, we paid for a tour that: * Never provided the advertised panoramic bus experience. * Was delayed by approximately two hours because of a defective vehicle. * Left passengers behind despite being informed they were only moments away. * Forced us to pay substantial additional transportation costs to return to Geneva. Mechanical problems can happen, and we appreciate that. However, how a company responds to those problems defines its customer service. In our case, KeyTours failed to deliver the advertised experience, failed to provide any emergency contact information, and ultimately abandoned paying customers in a foreign country. Sadly, based on our experience, I cannot recommend KeyTours.

There was nothing in Interlaken to spend the day and there is no guide in Interlaken as they dropped us at 10:00 AM and planning to pick up at 5:00. We have to upgrade our trip to Jungfraujoch and paid 600 CHF for it

Awesome day trip, so glad that Lauterbrunnen was part of the trip we could have spent the day there! In Interlaken I very much recommend taking the tram to Harder Klum so worth it for the view alone. So glad our guide recommended it

Loved this trip! Got to see lauterbrunnen and Interlaken. Highlight of my trip, beautiful views and well organised. The driver was very helpful and suggested things to do and see!

I have mixed feelings about this excursion. The scenery at both Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken was breathtaking. But we had only 45 minutes at Lauterbrunnen and not-very-good guidance from our guide about what things we should see there (waterfalls) and where to go to see them. Then we had FIVE HOURS of free time at Interlaken, which was way too much time for the amount of things to do there. The description didn’t mention the length of free time; if it had, I would have dressed for hiking, biking, or swimming. Also, our driver was very stressed because he had to get people to different destinations not associated with this particular excursion. At one point he said to someone in our group, “Move your ass. All of this chaos is because of you.” Finally, the temperature on the bus was like an oven; the A/C seemed to be blowing warm air. I was sweating through my clothes by the time we arrived back in Geneva. All in all, I liked the areas we saw but it was a long day that could perhaps be made a bit shorter.

Excellent trip. Our guide Babis was just amazing and so kind and helpful. He did extra for us. We really enjoyed it.

Go to the Key Tours location near the Geneva bus station and you will have no difficulty finding your tour guide and bus. Tom was an excellent guide who was very friendly and helped us get to Interlaken very efficiently! First, we went to Lauterbrunnnen. We had 1.5 hours to explore this quaint one-road town. You can hike to a waterfall there called Staubbach Falls (takes about 15 minutes to reach the base of the falls and 30 minutes to go up to the cave of the waterfall). It was BEAUTIFUL! Next, we drove to the town of Interlaken and stayed there for about 4 hours. I did not have any excursion planned for the day. Tom pointed out various options for activities, including a boat ride, a train to the top of a mountain (Harder Klum), and paragliding. Ultimately, I booked a hang gliding ride and it was UNREAL (see pictures and hear more about my experience in my review of Bumblebee Hang-gliding)! I had enough time to do this activity and buy some souvenirs before making it back to the bus in time. Thank you so much, Tom and Key Tours, for an unforgettable experience in Interlaken!!

A very nice tour. All movements were ontime as per the tour's schedule. The driver has a charming personality and provided the bus with lots of information about places we visited.

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Ecuador, thru Gulliver's Travel, Ecuador. The trip was organised perfectly, we were pampered by the agent with a most wonderful guide, Ismael Paredes. Ismael is the friendlist, helpful and charming guide we have ever had the luck to travel with. (We travel a lot....) Besides being super knowledgable, gentle, kind and very understanding, we had great laughs with him. (We are not spring chickens...) We recommend Isamel and Gulliver tours as first choice when visiting Ecuador.
