We did the 3 days trek to Machu Picchu with Tierras Vivas and Nico as a guide. Nico and a representative of Tierras Vivas met us at our hostel in Cusco the day before our departure to give us all the information. To be honest, our experience was beyond imagination! 3 days instead of 4 is challenging be feasible, you just need to be quite sporty and in a good physical condition. Actually I believe that the itemization is better split in 3 than for 4 days. Nico was incredible and very knowledgeable about the Inca culture and the flora of the area. I got sick in the first day and Nico took care of me with local medicine in order to be sure that I was back on my feet for the rest of the trip. In the end I highly recommend Tierras vivas for your treks around Cusco.
Since we didn’t have a lot of time and are quite fit hikers, we let Tierras Vivas organize the 3day/2night Inka Trail „Challenge“ they offer on their website for us - so the classic Inca trail, but more kam in a day and one night less. We had the best time with our guide Nico, who was superfit too, very talkative and wouldn’t leave our side explaining about all the plants, animals and ruins/history. His English was very good and he was super helpful even after the Trek when we stayed in Aguas Calientes! Would highly recommend to book with him!
As someone who is well traveled and seeks beyond the typical tourist experience, this one was the best experience I could have asked for. Our guide Alex went above and beyond with everything we did, creating local experiences that allowed us to learn and embrace the beautiful culture during every piece of our journey! Furthermore, Alex was passionate about ensuring his guests made the most of their day, answering each desire from the group and finding a way to make every happy. Every time block was met with constant honest communication and organized in a way that allowed us to have necessary breaks with flexible freedom. Additionally Alex took us to local dining experiences each day where we were welcomed in Peruvian homes with meals created straight from the garden. In Conclusion the mix of biking, rafting, hiking, and authentic local experiences made the trip a unforgettable experience which FAR exceeded expectations.

Our tour guide Wilbert was absolutely amazing and made this tour 100% better. He knew everything and was able to answer any questions we had. During our mountain hike, we passed by many different plants, some we had never seen before. He knew all their uses, modern and ancient, and their history! He was very accommodating any time we had a problem. During any breaks we had, he would tell us stories about the Inca and about his history. He gave the tour a very personal feel that I know we all appreciated. In the end, all I can say was this was an absolutely amazing tour and Wilbert was an amazing guide!
