Now with our tour guide we will go through the time with the oldest Building and Pyramid in the world , is Sakkara . Saqqara contains the oldest complete stone building complex known in history, the Pyramid of Djoser, built during the Third Dynasty. Another sixteen Egyptian kings built pyramids at Saqqara, which are now in various states of preservation. It remained an important complex for non-royal burials and cult ceremonies for more than 3000 years, well into Ptolemaic and Roman times.

next step to one of the oldest stone in the world ,Located south of Saqqara, the Dahshur necropolis is home to some of Egypt’s earliest and most unique pyramids. This site offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of pyramid construction during the Old Kingdom, particularly under Pharaoh Sneferu. The Bent Pyramid stands out with its unusual shape, showcasing a dramatic change in angle halfway up—believed to be an early experiment in pyramid engineering. Nearby lies the Red Pyramid, Egypt’s first successful true smooth-sided pyramid, and the third-largest pyramid in the country. Dahshur is less crowded than Giza, offering a peaceful and awe-inspiring experience among ancient wonders.

Pyramid of Unas – The First Pyramid Texts- Note close at 11:55 AM ( VERY LIMITED ) The Pyramid of Unas, located at the Saqqara necropolis, belongs to Unas, the last pharaoh of Egypt’s Fifth Dynasty. Though small in size, this pyramid holds enormous historical and spiritual importance. Unas’ pyramid is the first known pyramid to feature Pyramid Texts—a collection of ancient religious inscriptions carved into the walls of the burial chamber. These sacred spells were meant to guide the king in the afterlife and became the foundation for later funerary texts like the Coffin Texts and Book of the Dead. The inner corridors are still accessible today, allowing visitors to walk through history and stand in the presence of the world’s earliest religious scripture.

A Fascinating Underground Ancient Site

The Serapeum of Saqqara is one of the most unique archaeological sites in Egypt. Walking through the underground tunnels and seeing the enormous granite sarcophagi of the sacred Apis bulls is an unforgettable experience. The site is rich in history and mystery, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in ancient Egyptian civilization.

This is a very complete...

This is a very complete tour to Dahsur, Memphis and Shakara with the Unas pyramid and Serapeum, guided by Taha, who really knows his way around the archeologic areas and is an absolute source of knowledge on ancient Egyptian history. We had an real wonderful day. And: Taha knows where to eat a nice bowl of koshari.

Operator response

This tour takes you to the true beginning of ancient Egyptian civilization.

Saqqara, Memphis, and the Serapeum tour is one of the most impressive historical experiences in Egypt. In Saqqara, you witness the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the first monumental stone building in the history of humanity and the beginning of pyramid construction. Then we visit Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt and the political and cultural center for over a thousand years. Finally, we explore the mysterious Serapeum, where the sacred Apis bulls were buried inside massive granite sarcophagi weighing dozens of tons .

Not recommended

The travel agency skimps on everything they can. Time and paying the driver and the tour guide. We asked for 10 minutes to visit the Imhotep museum in Saqqara (already paid for with the entry ticket) and the agency just refused to (without any reasonable justification because we were way under the minimum amount of time of stated for the tour: 8 hours). To add insult to injury, after it was too late, they sent an insincere apologetic Whatsapp. Do not give business to Egypt Smiles Tours and to Faya Tours.

Operator response

We would like to formally respond to this complaint with full transparency and documented clarity. The booking confirmation clearly stated that the service included a licensed tour guide and a vehicle according to the agreed and confirmed itinerary only. The service is strictly based on the scheduled program and timeframe. It is not an open or unlimited private car service. All locations listed in the confirmed itinerary were fully visited, and the tour was completed exactly as agreed. There were no missed stops or unfinished parts of the program. During the tour, a request was made to modify the itinerary and visit a different location that was not included in the original confirmed booking. Any modification, extension, or additional stop requires prior written agreement and adjustment of the booking price. This is a standard policy applied in all professional tour operations. We have written confirmation of the agreed itinerary and service details, which clearly define the scope of the booking. Additionally, we must address the issue of conduct. Offensive language and inappropriate remarks were directed toward both the operation and the driver during the tour. Our team operates professionally and respectfully, and we expect the same level of respect in return. We stand by the service delivered, which was completed in full compliance with the confirmed booking terms and industry standards.

Perfect day exploring with Mahmoud!

Had the most incredible and special tour today, thanks to my awesome guide Mahmoud Sallam, and great driver Ayman! Mahmoud’s knowledge of all the sides and history was clearly and patiently explained with passion and heart. He took some incredible photos with me, and was friendly, kind and enjoyable to listen to. As a DOOP female traveller o felt safe, secure and respected. This was the best tour I had from all of my 4 previous trips to Egypt and I would highly recommend him again and again! He also spoke Japanese which was a great bonus, since I lived and worked in Japan as an English teacher. Please ask for Mahmoud if you want a great private guide when you explore Egypt!

Operator response

We really appreciate and we hope to see you again in Egypt

You can taste the history of Pyramid in Japanese!

Mahmoud was very kind and fluent in Japanese. They explained various things about the ruins and answered our questions attentively. It was thanks to this tour that I was able to enjoy each of the ruins. I highly recommend this tour to Saqqara and the Pyramids of Refraction, as I think it is difficult for individuals to travel there!

If you want me to explain it in Japanese, I'd love to!

Mr. Mohamed is fluent in Japanese and he explained the ruins in detail, and we had a very fulfilling time. They also helped me negotiate camels and shopping, and I was able to enjoy it with peace of mind for a reasonable amount of money.
