Imperial War Museum and Churchill War Rooms

Description
Guides with vocational qualifications, postgraduate degrees and published literature on the subject, as well as years of experience in guiding the sites, get to the heart of what matters at these locations. While knowledge certainly matters, the delivery of information in a manner that leaves you with an understanding of a period, rather than a list of events, is crucial.

Itinerary
Our experienced guide will guide you round the IWM main site, which details the British experience in conflict since 1914, with particular focus on the two world wars. From there you will travel to the old Cabinet War Rooms.
The Churchill (or Cabinet) War Rooms housed the key tools and personnel of the British war administration between 1940 and 1945, under the leadership of Prime Minister Winston Churchill. We will look at his life and history, and explore some of the additional figures of the administration, such as the Chiefs of Staff and Churchill's principal military advisor, Hastings Ismay.

Sheldon was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He had lots of good background/stories to share before heading into the war rooms and was able to answer all of our follow-up questions. Despite the war rooms being crowded, Sheldon was able to make the tour feel intimate and personal. Meet up was very easy and well communicated 24 hours in advance. Great experience.
To say Andy was outstanding is not enough. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional and exceptional. He answered our questions and made the tour personal. I would highly recommend him and would schedule another tour with him without hesitation.
Outstanding experience! Andy is an academic expert on WWI and WWII. He is an excellent teacher/tour guide, personable and clearly enjoys his work. He was able to adapt our tour to our group’s particular interests, We highly recommend!
This was a really worthwhile tour. The guide, Andy, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and happy to answer any questions about WWI and WWII. The Churchill War Rooms part of the tour was very interesting and a definite highlight. The 3 hours passed very quickly, as there was so much to see at both of the sites.
Andy was a terrific guide - knowledgeable, humorous and good natured. One of the highlights of our London trip.
Our guide Sheldon was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable. Sheldon kept us engaged the entire tour with information and interesting facts.
It was great getting detailed information from a person rather than a device. We really enjoyed Andy’s approach to explaining history.
It was my first visit to the Imperial War Museum and its Churchill War Rooms section. So I was looking for a thorough overview of the history behind this place, and our guide provided exactly that.
Great to hear, thank you 😊
The tour guide, Andy was extremely knowledgeable and asked the group members for input on what they were mist interested in. He communicated beforehand to confirm time and meeting location and let us know what he was wearing.
Thank you for the kind words!
If you can request a guide by all means request ANDY! Andy’s knowledge of the events leading up to and including WWI were extensive and very interesting. The tour was so much better than just arriving and wearing a headset.
Thank you!
