An amazing experience!!! Our guide was so informative and had a lot of new information as he had assisted with excavations when they were active. The site only allows 2 hours which is just enough. Yes it is uphill and downhill walking. You cannot take backpacks or bags with you past the visitor center. You can take water bottles carried by hand. The drive is not far and starting at 9am we were back at the meeting place by 2pm. I would highly recommend this to ANYONE visiting near San Miguel. It is a little pricey for a 1/2 day tour but the knowledge is priceless.
Our host Alejandro was so knowledgeable and helpful. He knew everything! The area is beyond gorgeous and the history is fascinating. Highly recommend!
Very informative and passionate guide!
We got engaged at the pyramids in Cairo 35 years ago and I decided to surprise my husband with a trip to the pyramids in San Miguel de Allende. I wanted the experience to be special and the tour was everything I’d hoped for. We booked directly with the operator who was transparent on pricing and the amount of walking, transport time, etc. He sent an address where we would meet our guide as well as a map link to ensure we could find the location easily. Our guide Horacio was excellent. His English was perfect, he was knowledgeable about the pyramids, local and world history, current events and more - making him a great guide and easy person to spend a half day with. He also took a fabulous photo of my spouse recreating the proposal. Booking and communication and payment - in my case via WhatsApp and Zelle - were seamless.
Our guide, Alberto, made our experience at the ruins of Canada de la Virgen truly fascinating. His enthusiasm is contagious and his depth of knowledge of this place and the people who have inhabited the area is remarkable. Alberto’s English is excellent and his voice is easy to hear, even with my impaired hearing. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour with Alberto.
Really wonderful and knowledgeable guide and good amount of time at the site with a small group and individualized attention! Very convenient and organized way to take a half-day trip and learn about history and culture!
I did receive a notification that the tour was canceled the same day of the tour.
What an adventure! Our guide was very enthusiastic and informative, and climbing to the top of the pyramids was so cool. The tour bus picked us up at the predetermined spot within walking distance of our apartment and drove us to the pyramid museum area where there are bathrooms and small gift shop. From there, we boarded another bus, along with other tour groups, and were transported through private ranch land to a drop off spot one mile from the site. From there we walked the cobblestone or dirt road to the pyramids. Our guide stopped frequently to give us information. Climbing the pyramids was the climax of the tour. Although we had frequent stops to view points of interest and hear information, the tour moved along and kept to the schedule. Basic facilities are available out of sight of the pyramids. The tour returns to the drop off area, a mile walk back, to return by the bus to the museum where the original tour bus awaits. Wear protective clothing, comfortable sturdy shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and bring water and maybe a snack. Restrooms don't have toilet paper in the stalls, you have to gauge how much you'll need and tear it from a roll at the doorway. We thoroughly enjoyed this activity, which lasted about 4.5 hours total. We were returned to the original pick up point. We would take this tour again. It was very hands on, informative and culturally immersive.
Smooth and responsible service Great Great Great Really cool place Great Great Great Really cool place
A really well-done tour with a knowledgeable guide. Be aware that this tour is physcically demanding. The tour was well-organized and the transportation was efficient. Read the fine print on what you can take - i.e. no purses, bags etc..
