The unofficial symbol of Hue, Thien Mu Pagoda, was built in 1601 and stands gracefully on the northern bank of the Perfume River. This iconic religious site is deeply woven into local folklore, legends, and folk rhymes, making it a must-visit landmark for understanding Hue’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Explore the former seat of power of the Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam’s last royal family, at the magnificent Hue Imperial City, constructed in 1804. Enclosed within a vast 2-square-kilometer fortress surrounded by defensive moats, this UNESCO World Heritage Site invites you to step back in time. Stroll through a complex network of palaces, gates, courtyards, and ceremonial halls, each designed under strict imperial rules reserved exclusively for the emperor and royal court. As you walk through this intricately planned citadel, discover stories of royal life, ancient traditions, and the political heart of imperial Vietnam. A visit to the Hue Imperial City offers a deep insight into Vietnam’s royal history, architectural mastery, and cultural legacy.
Visit Dong Ba Market, the most famous and lively local market in Hue, where the city’s daily life truly comes alive. Wander through bustling aisles filled with fresh produce, local spices, traditional snacks, and handmade goods while observing how locals shop, trade, and interact. A visit to Dong Ba Market connects you directly with the heart of Hue’s community.
A striking fusion of Eastern and Western architectural styles, Khai Dinh Tomb was constructed between 1920 and 1931 and stands as one of the most elaborate royal tombs in Vietnam. Admire its dramatic design, intricate mosaics, and lavish details, funded in part by a controversial nationwide tax increase of 30%, reflecting both the ambition and legacy of the Nguyen Dynasty’s final emperors.
Discover the majestic Minh Mang Tomb, a masterpiece of imperial architecture planned and constructed over two decades between 1820 and 1840. Wander through its harmonious layout of pavilions, lakes, and gardens, ascend to the upper levels, and uncover the fascinating stories behind one of Vietnam’s most respected Nguyen emperors.
At Thuy Xuan Incense Village, travelers will discover a traditional craft village famous for its vibrant incense sticks. Excellent guide, friendly.he provided US with a lot of historical information. Small groups, food lunch
We really enjoyed this experience which was organised and orchestrated brilliantly. Hoa was a great guide who was knowledgeable and approachable. Food at lunchtime was tasty and the sights were generally memorable. The only exceptions were the Dragon Boat ride (not a lot to see on the river) and the market visit which didn't really add much to the experience.
Our Guide Hoa did a fantastic job at showing us the graves of the emperors as well as the imperial city! We loved the mosaics. Greetings from Sonia & Tobias from Austria!!!
