Description
A horseback ride along Tamarindo down to Langost beach is poised to become a highlight of any tropical vacation. Trot through forested areas en route to Langosta Beach. We will take stops on the way at different sites to enjoy the views. The route has beautiful sites from where you can photograph stunning sunsets (if you choose to ride in the afternoon) , rock formations shaped by the repeated fall and rise of the sea, and spot holler monkeys up in trees if it is the right time. The final destionation can be as far a Langosta beach, but we'll leave it up to our guest how far south you'd like to ride. Tamarindo is famous for its waves so you will also see many surfers riding the waves of this wonderful beach. This will be a Pura Vida style Tour on the beach and forest with our great horses. You will watch surfers, nature and animals from the saddle. This place is unique and magical, especially early in the morning or at sunset. You will love it ! See you at the beach! PURA VIDA!

This tour did not show up...
This tour did not show up with horses as promised. We had emailed and agreed for a 10 am meet up. However he had a larger tour book that day and just did not bother to even contact us to let us know. This left our granddaughter in tears. This tour was booked more than 3 months in advance but was not honored.
When I called him as we waited for the horses to show up on the beach as promised all he said is he could do a later time or get our money back.
The only good thing that happened was there was another vendor on the beach that did allow us to do a walk up booking for a horse ride at the last minute so in spite of this unreliable vendor we were able to figure out a work around for at least part of our group
This is not our usual experience with tours booked through Viator.
Operator response
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration this situation caused, especially for your granddaughter. We understand how special these experiences are for families, and we regret that your expectations were not met.
We want to clarify that we did communicate that we were running behind on a previous tour and, after speaking with you by phone, we agreed that it was too late to provide the experience at the time you were hoping for. We immediately offered a full refund, which was processed, because we wanted to make sure you were not inconvenienced further.
We sincerely apologize for the situation and for the impact it had on your day. We always work hard to provide memorable and reliable experiences for our guests, and we appreciate your understanding.

Relaxing and Fun
First time in a horse! This was so much fun and very relaxing! Our guide gave simple instructions and it was very straight forward. He speaks a little English but enough to have a great time.
Make sure to wear long pants or sunscreen, the sun will burn your calf muscles!
Operator response

And thank you for the helpful tip about wearing long pants or sunscreen—future riders will definitely appreciate that advice! We hope to welcome you back for another ride soon.

Wonderful
I went with my young daughter. The horses were very docile and the leader was very kind and cheerful. We had a lovely sunset walk and went on a small trail ride to get a break from the sun. I could not have asked for a better first time riding experience for my daughter.
Operator response
Thank you so much for your kind words! It truly means a lot to us to hear that you and your daughter had such a special first riding experience. We take great care in choosing gentle, well-trained horses so riders of all ages can feel comfortable and safe. Watching families enjoy a peaceful sunset ride together is one of our favorite parts of what we do.
We’re so happy you were able to enjoy the beach and the shady trail along the way. We hope to welcome you and your daughter back for another ride the next time you visit! 🐎🌅

Probably Not
The horses are treated very poorly and are rowdy. The guides don't say much to you and take you a weird route. It was cool as an experience I guess so not 1 star but poor providers. Also could probably negotiate it cheaper at the beach itself.
Operator response
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
We do want to clarify that the wellbeing of our horses is extremely important to us. They are cared for daily, properly fed, and monitored to ensure they remain healthy and comfortable. We’ve never had any issues reported regarding the treatment of our animals, and we take pride in maintaining their welfare.
Our routes are chosen intentionally for safety, scenery, and to avoid crowded areas, which sometimes means they may feel a bit different from what guests expect. As for our guides, we always encourage them to be friendly and helpful, but we also appreciate feedback so we can continue improving the experience for everyone.
We’re glad you were still able to enjoy the ride as an experience, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

Please don't do it.
I love Costa Rica so much and have been many times but was sooo upset after this experience. The horses were very thin and frankly I should have cancelled when I saw them but my niece was set on this excursion. But, by the end she was also upset and felt very bad for the horses. Not only did they not look healthy, they seems exhausted and I didn't see any water even on the beach for them to drink which is crazy after being out there all day long. The guide also kept snapping what I believe was a whip to keep them moving and it was very upsetting. I felt sick to my stomach and would not recommend this to anyone. These animals are amazing and deserve better. It is shameful.
Operator response
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling upset. The wellbeing of our horses is extremely important to us, and we take their care very seriously. Our animals are regularly fed, provided with fresh water, and monitored to ensure they remain healthy and able to do their work safely.
We understand that appearances can sometimes be concerning, especially after horses have completed several rides during a warm day. However, our horses are accustomed to the climate and activity level, and we make sure they receive appropriate rest, hydration, and veterinary care. The guide’s tool that may have looked like a whip is used primarily as a sound cue to guide the horses forward rather than to harm them.
We genuinely care about our animals—they are part of our family and the heart of our operation. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention and will continue to review our practices to ensure both our guests and our horses are treated with the care and respect they deserve.
Thank you again for visiting, and we wish you and your niece the best in your future travels.

Wildlife, Coffee and a Waterfall
Great experience seeing sloths, toucans. Bit of a long drive but was worth it. Lunch was simple but filling. Our guide was a great driver and guide
Operator response
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re glad to hear you had a great experience spotting sloths and toucans—seeing these incredible Costa Rican wildlife species in their natural habitat is always a highlight of our tour.
We appreciate you mentioning the drive. Many of the best locations for wildlife viewing in Costa Rica are a bit off the beaten path, but as you said, they’re absolutely worth it! We’re glad you found the journey comfortable and enjoyed having a knowledgeable and safe driver-guide leading the way.
It’s also wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the lunch. We aim to provide a simple, authentic, and satisfying Costa Rican meal that complements a day full of nature and adventure.
Thank you again for choosing our wildlife tour and for taking the time to share your experience on Viator. We hope to welcome you back to Costa Rica for another unforgettable eco-adventure in the future! 🌿🦥🦜

A Horse Named Monkey And A Cowboy Named Jeronimo
Geronimo was so cool in a Costa Rican cowboy way. We had a great ride on the beach and even got to seem howler monkeys!
Operator response

We love hearing that you had such a great beach ride and got to see the howler monkeys — that’s always such a special bonus! Costa Rica really knows how to deliver those unforgettable “cowboy” moments.

Great ride on the beach....
Great ride on the beach. Horses are sweet and sure footed. Guide didn’t talk at all except to ask if we wanted pics together which was perfect for me as I was there for the horses not the conversation.
Operator response
