Tour Options

Hollywood Horror Story: The Black Dahlia Funeral Limo Tour

Itinerary

Pass by

Visit Elizabeth Short’s last known Hollywood residence, where the Black Dahlia spent her final nights before vanishing into Los Angeles true crime history. Look into the window of infamous "Room 501" from outside the building as you hear who she lived with, what her life was really like here, and how this address became a key clue in the Black Dahlia murder investigation.

Pass by

Stop at the former flagship Pig’n’Whistle café on Hollywood Boulevard, a classic golden‑age hangout Elizabeth Short is believed to have frequented before her murder. From the sidewalk, you’ll picture the neon lights, crowds, and cocktail chatter she once knew here, and learn how this popular Hollywood hotspot fits into the timeline of the Black Dahlia true crime saga.

Pass by

Visit Boardner’s, a legendary Hollywood bar that Elizabeth Short is believed to have frequented in the final weeks of her life. Outside this classic watering hole, you’ll hear how its smoky, noir atmosphere, colorful regulars, and proximity to Hollywood Boulevard helped place Boardner’s on the map of LA noir true crime history.

Pass by

Cruise down Hollywood Boulevard, the neon‑lit artery of Los Angeles where Elizabeth Short once walked among theaters, nightclubs, and hopeful starlets chasing fame. As you pass iconic landmarks and gritty side streets, you’ll hear how this glamorous strip shaped her final days and became a central stage for the Black Dahlia's tragic opera.

Pass by

Cruise through Hollywood on your Black Dahlia funeral limo tour, the glamorous epicenter where Elizabeth Short chased stardom before her gruesome 1947 murder. From your vehicle, feel the Tinseltown shadows hiding the unsolved true crime mystery that became LA’s darkest Hollywood lore.

Pass by

Visit the Frolic Room, a classic Hollywood Boulevard dive bar whose neon glow and noir ambiance evoke the same golden‑age nightlife Elizabeth Short once moved through. From the sidewalk, you’ll explore how this storied watering hole fits into LA’s true crime culture, its Hollywood history, and the enduring Black Dahlia case.

Pass by

Stop outside the former Florentine Gardens nightclub, once a glamorous Hollywood hot spot owned by a leading Black Dahlia murder suspect and fronted by a house where Elizabeth Short is believed to have stayed. Here you’ll hear how this suspect-owned venue, the backstage home that once stood behind it, and rumors that Elizabeth and a young Marilyn Monroe crossed paths here all helped fuse Florentine Gardens into the heart of Los Angeles’ most notorious true crime.

Pass by

See the Guardian Arms apartments, where Elizabeth Short and a friend briefly stayed with Black Dahlia suspect Marvin Margolis (also known as Marvin Merrill) and his companion in the days before her murder. Outside this stately Hollywood building, you’ll hear how their short stay here, Margolis’s suspicious behavior, and later witness accounts folded this address into the web of suspects, sightings, and unanswered questions that still haunt the case.

Pass by

Visit the striking John Sowden House, the Mayan‑inspired Hollywood residence where Black Dahlia suspect Dr. George Hodel once lived and allegedly held disturbing parties. From the street, you’ll learn how the home’s eerie architecture, secretive gatherings, and later accusations against Hodel helped make this mansion one of the most talked‑about locations in Black Dahlia true crime lore.

Pass by

Drive through Los Feliz on the Black Dahlia limo tour, a serene neighborhood linked to the investigation and suspects in Elizabeth Short’s horrific dismemberment. Through your window, glimpse quiet streets that whispered clues in one of LA’s most infamous unsolved Hollywood horror stories.

Pass by

See the historic Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, the last place Elizabeth Short was seen alive before she vanished into Black Dahlia legend. You’ll hear how her final hours here were spent in this historic landmark's opulent lobby, conflicting witness accounts, and the hotel’s Hollywood history turned the Biltmore into a central landmark in LA’s most infamous true crime mystery.

Pass by

Walk the same downtown streets Elizabeth Short may have taken from the Biltmore to the nearby Crown Grill, a now‑vanished nightclub once buzzing with post‑war Hollywood energy. As you stand near its former location, you’ll hear how this possible final stop, along with conflicting witness timelines, added yet another layer of mystery to the last known movements in the Black Dahlia true crime story.

Pass by

Stop outside the stunning former Herald Examiner Building, once home to one of Los Angeles’s most powerful newspapers and a key player in sensationalizing the Black Dahlia murder. Here you’ll learn how lurid headlines, leaked crime scene details, and an ominous phone call the killer may have made to this office the week after Elizabeth Short’s death helped turn her case into a nationwide true crime obsession that still shapes its legacy today.

Pass by

Stop outside the notorious Hotel Cecil, downtown Los Angeles landmark infamous for serial killer Richard Ramirez’s stay and the infinitely mysterious death of Elisa Lam. Here you’ll hear how a now‑vanished dive bar inside the hotel became part of the rumor mill around Elizabeth Short’s final night, weaving the Black Dahlia case into the Cecil’s long trail of dark history, alleged sightings, and viral true crime legends.

Pass by

Pass through Downtown LA on your Black Dahlia murder tour, the 1940s nerve center of police headquarters and frenzied media coverage during the hunt for Elizabeth Short’s killer. From your limo, survey the urban hub that pulsed with the investigation into Hollywood’s most gruesome unsolved true crime saga.

Pass by

Stop outside a haunting bungalow in Koreatown, a quiet residential home some sleuths believe may be the true Black Dahlia murder site. Here you’ll hear a chilling theory that ties this house to a Hollywood mobster and a powerful madame, and how their alleged sex trafficking ring, underworld connections, and possible role in Elizabeth Short’s final hours have made this unassuming bungalow one of the most unsettling locations in Los Angeles true crime lore.

Pass by

The quiet South Los Angeles lot where Elizabeth Short’s mutilated body was discovered in January 1947, forever transforming a nondescript patch of sidewalk into the most infamous crime scene in LA history. Here you’ll hear how the shocking condition of her remains, new questions about the killer’s eerie staging, and the intense media frenzy that followed turned this intersection into the chilling epicenter of the entire horrific story.

Pass by

Pass Leimert Park on your Black Dahlia funeral limo tour, where Elizabeth Short's mutilated body was discovered on January 15, 1947, igniting LA's most infamous unsolved murder case. From your ride, view the quiet streets that became ground zero for Hollywood's grisliest true crime horror story.

Pass by

Visit the unassuming storefront location where some of Elizabeth Short’s personal belongings were discovered atop a trash can days after her body was found, a chilling sign that the killer was still toying with police. Here you’ll learn how these items linked to this drop deepened the mystery, feeding theories about the Black Dahlia murderer’s psyche and his desire for attention in the Los Angeles true crime spotlight.

10 min

Stop outside the so‑called American Horror Story House, the ominous Los Angeles mansion made famous by the TV series on which the Black Dahlia made a guest appearance. From the sidewalk, you’ll hear how its eerie architecture, on‑screen murders, and fan theories about parallels to Elizabeth Short’s case make this house a pop‑culture bridge between scripted horror and LA’s most chilling true crime legends.

Pass by

Stop outside the former office of Elizabeth Short’s gynecologist, a little‑known address that offers a more intimate glimpse into her real life behind the “Black Dahlia” headlines. Here you’ll learn how her medical history, personal struggles, and relationships have been used—and often distorted—by investigators, authors, and true crime fans trying to piece together this infamous Los Angeles cold case.

THE highlight of my trip! Do not miss this tour!

Our day began at Ovation Hollywood. Blaze met us on time and dressed for her role as our tour guide extraordinaire. We embarked in a nicely restored Cadillac Fleetwood Funeral Limousine for a three hour tour of the mysterious life and sad ending of Elizabeth Short. Blaze is a tremendous resource about everything associated with this true crime case. At every stop she regaled us with stories both verified as well as little known facts and myths. I can confidently say this was the highlight of my very first trip to LA! Thank you Grave Line, and a very special thank you to Blaze!! You made it very special ❤️

Coolest tour ever!

We had the most amazing time today on the tour with tour guide Ansley! She was so knowledgeable, could answer any question and if she didn’t know she would find out for us. We drove around all over the places where the Black Dahlia mystery occurred, and in a super comfortable funeral car! Honestly, we laughed, and we had fun and it was informative… Truly such a great experience! I cannot recommend this enough. If you are a true crime junkie, any one of these tours would be great for you! We’re already trying to plan to book Ansley for the Manson murders tour. Run don’t walk to this tour it’s amazing! Totally worth it and such an awesome and memorable experience!

A Hauntingly Brilliant Deep Dive into 1940s Los Angeles

If you think you already know the story of the Black Dahlia, this tour will completely change your perspective. The Grave Line Black Dahlia tour is far more than just a sightseeing trip; it is a masterclass in historical storytelling that feels like stepping directly into a noir film. Our guide, Ansley, was absolutely world-class. From the moment the tour began, her passion for the subject and her incredible depth of knowledge were clear. She didn't just give us the 'who, what, and where'—she provided the 'why.' Her meticulous attention to detail really brought us into the world of Elizabeth Short and the gritty, glamorous, and often dark reality of Los Angeles in the 1940s. Ansley has a gift for painting a picture with words, making the history feel tangible and deeply personal. The way she wove together the facts of the case with the cultural atmosphere of the era was both haunting and educational. We left feeling like we truly understood the person behind the headlines. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone—whether you’re a local or just visiting. If you can, request Ansley. Her energy and expertise turned a great tour into an unforgettable experience. 10/10!"

Operator response

Dear Cathy, I am speechless. Except: everything you say about Ansley is 1000% true. She is exceptionally talented, incredibly passionate and devoted and above all a phenomenal human being. I am so so happy you got to experience at tour with her, and blessed to let it reflect on Grave Line. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Adam, Ansley + Blaze

So glad I did this tour!

This Tour is absolutely brilliant and a must-do if you are interested in the darker side of Los Angeles. The experience is both chilling and deeply engaging, offering a respectful yet fascinating look into the infamous Black Dahlia murder. My tour guide, Blaze, was incredibly informative and fun, striking the perfect balance by keeping the atmosphere engaging without ever glorifying this horrific crime. The storytelling, attention to detail, and unique limo setting make it an unforgettable experience, an absolute must-do for any true crime buff.

Operator response

Well this has to be one of the most unbelievably complimentary and truly flattering reviews we have ever received. Honestly, I'm at a great loss for words. Thank you seems sort of trite...but, for lack of a better response I will just say, thank you so much. Of all mourners, we would love to have you return to tour with Grave Line in the future. Most sincerely yours, Adam, Blaze and Ansley
