A must-do
A very beautiful experience to be able to navigate peacefully on this river.
There were very few people, and we felt almost alone.
The landscapes are surprising, and our rower, at 72 years old, was charming.
Honestly, I could not have done what she did during those 2 hours.
I highly recommend it

Mass tourism but a "must".
Ninh Binh is a province in North Vietnam famous for its Trang An landscape.
We were also in the community of Tam Coc and booked an organized day tour. The tour included a boat trip on the Ngo Dong River.
Very nice, slow boat trip in the middle of a beautiful and
interesting landscape of rocks, pagodas and caves.
The journey took 2 hours. And yes, it is very touristy, it is about mass tourism actually but everything is very well organized.
We have not experienced any of these negative experiences from pushy saleswomen. Our day tour was well organized, the guide very competent and this tour in itself not necessarily favorable for Vietnamese standards (about 50.-€ p.P.) and it is something you do once in a lifetime.

Lovely moments in the most beautiful place in Vietnam
Took a boat ride in Tam Coc and it was such a peaceful and scenic experience. Floating along the river surrounded by limestone mountains and rice fields felt almost unreal. Passing through the caves was a unique highlight.
The ride is slow and relaxing, perfect if you just want to enjoy nature and take photos. It can get a bit busy, but it never felt too overwhelming.
Definitely one of the must-do experiences in Ninh Binh simple, calm, and very beautiful.

Great ride but beware of photographers
Nice experience. Went early to avoid crowds and heat. Watch out for photographers in boats who will take your picture and then print off a whole album of photos and demand payment. Also be prepared for boat rowers to push souvenirs (hidden away in bucket with lid) and demand a tip in a pushy way. The ride itself was amazing but these things soured the experience a little. We did the combo tour that included two temples and a cave and we’re glad we did the package deal as we ticked off a bunch of things we wanted to do in Tam Coc all in one go.

Attraction n1
Taking a tam side boat is probably the most popular attraction
2 on a boat and you leave for 1h30 of ride.
the particularities of men and women sail with their legs.
I've never seen this before it's very sporty really and they do it with great ease
The landscapes are beautiful limestone karst rocks and water everywhere it is the terrestrial Ninh Binh for taste of Along Bay.
You will see water lilies pass under tunnels with beautiful colors.
So yes it is very touristic but it supports whole families.
They will propose on the return of very pretty embroidered photo frames, you are not obliged of course but it is handmade and handmade.
May this nature remain intact

Could have been a nice memory
initially, I actually quite enjoyed it and thought, I'd do this again or recommend it to others. while the cave was impressive and memorable, there was something even more memorable, with a sour taste. the boat 'driver''s incessant want for money. at the start, she was nice and all, pointing out parts of scenery and smiling, even complimenting us. now i wonder if that's out of the goodness of her heart or to make us open our wallets more. at a point in the tour, she stopped at what seemed like a dead end to try and sell us souviners. initially me and my dad said no, since we didn't want nor need any, but she kept pressuring us and there was no where to run, so we gave in and bought a magnet for 50k dong, which is really expensive. after that, she still wasnt satisfied, still trying to sell us other stuff, which were all terribly overpriced. at that point, i was already quite irritated, but tried to sympathise, but it left me upset for the remainder of the ride. just when i thought the money-making tricks were over, at the end of the boat ride she asked for a tip. well, its not uncommon in vietnam, but we had already bought overpriced souviners, and tried refusing, but she was adamant. we caved in and passed her 20k dong, which to out shock, she insisted on 100k dong. i was so appalled, never had i seen someone blatantly ask for so much. at that point, i was already looking forward to getting off, so much as to half standing up before she even stopped at the end. i was genuinely angry and if not for the boat 'driver', this would have been a great memory. the 2 out of 5 was for the scenery. it really was nice, with the mountains and caves, which i enjoyed. i even saw a few ducks and goats.

Tam Coc boat ride
The water lilies were in full bloom, and the boat ride went through a beautiful part of the river. Our rower, a middle-aged lady, seemed to be in a hurry to finish our boat ride, and quickly turned the boat after emerging from a cave, instead of parking the boat to let us disembark at one of the very beautiful stop-overs. I protested, and she reluctantly turned the boat again. I was disgusted and furious, as we had paid for the whole of this trip. She later tried to sell us a picture album, then demanded a tip-- I refused all her efforts, as she had tried to cheat us. The area passed was truly beautiful, the electric car ride was less exciting. And, yes, the Tamcoc ride is prettier than the Trang An ride, though Trang An is much better organised.

Amazing Experience, but be careful with some sales tactics
Boat ride was so beautiful & peaceful.
Quite long at about 1.5 hours but very much enjoyed it; stunning scenery & wildlife.
Boat itself was well maintained & very stable; driver very good also.
They did try to sell items to us, and my friends did report some hard tactics; also very direct about tip at the end.
Photographer also available, but my friends reported changing prices & hard tactics again - so be prepared.
