Experience a unique hiking experience by walking through the Mediterranean forest of Tibidabo. I will tell you about its flora, fauna and aromas, and share stories about the Catalan farmhouse we will see along the way and about the iconic temple at the top. During the 4 km route (300 m elevation), we will enjoy viewpoints with incredible views of Barcelona, the sea and the mountains. Ideal for those looking for nature, fresh air and an active activity near the city. From the top (512 m) you will have Barcelona at your feet at a glance. We will visit the Temple of the Sacred Heart and walk through the top of the amusement park. You can also climb (€5, not included) to the foot of the Christ for the best panoramic photos. 10 minutes after the start of the climb, we will pass in front of Vil·la Joana, a historic farmhouse of the 19th century converted into a museum dedicated to the life and work of Jacint Verdaguer, one of the most important poets of Catalan literature. Without stopping, we will enjoy its architectural charm and its surroundings surrounded by nature, which offers a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Collserola.
Within 15 minutes of starting the climb, we will pass the Collserola Natural Park Information Center, an ideal reference point to learn more about the biodiversity and history of this protected space. Although we will not stop, it is an interesting place that signals the beginning of the immersion in this unique environment of Mediterranean vegetation.
The tour runs along a charming path that winds through the forest of Collserola Natural Park, a veritable green lung of Mediterranean vegetation. Along the way, you will be accompanied by the shade of thousands of centuries-old trees, as the aroma of plants like rosemary and thyme envelops your senses. This peaceful natural setting offers perfect respite and a direct connection to the essence of the Mediterranean landscape.
About 15 minutes before reaching the top of Tibidabo, we will pass by the imposing Collserola Tower, an architectural icon designed by Norman Foster for the 1992 Olympic Games. Although we will not climb the tower, its modern and majestic silhouette will be an interesting landmark on our way to the top. A reminder of the contrast between nature and urbanism that defines Barcelona.
At the top of Tibidabo, 512 meters above sea level, the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus offers the most spectacular photographs of Barcelona. With unrivalled panoramic views of the city, the Mediterranean and the mountains, it is the perfect setting to immortalize your visit. This majestic temple, which combines Gothic and Modernist style, began construction in 1902 and stands out for its beauty and rich history. In the temple, those who wish to take a lift (ticket €5 per person) to the upper terrace at 560 meters altitude, from where you can access the feet of Christ for unparalleled panoramic views. Highly recommend! A nature hike for a change of pace from the city, plenty of history and culture to experience, and pretty amazing views as a reward for your effort! We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day with spectacular views of Barcelona including Montserrat in the distance. Our guide Nuria was spot on with all aspects of the excursion. In addition to sharing her knowledge along a nicely paced hike, she was very thorough, sending helpful reminders, providing local recommendations and helping us navigate getting down the mountain. Ok. So I’m 48 and out of shape. It was wet. Not pouring like the other few days but wet. Down tree, no problem. This is the guide’s personal signature trip, and I 100% recommend it. Rain or shine. She even had gluten free cookies for us and we chatted on the way back down the mountain. The views… oh the views. Don’t take a bus. Hike in the forest. I loved it! Thank you!!!!

Nuria, our guide was incredibly prompt and proactive with her communication and directions to the place. We did a beautiful hike through the sprawling national park in Barcelona (Baixador de Vallvidrera) amid breathtaking views and sparkling conversations with Nuria. It was approximately a hour 15 minutes of walking on both flat surfaces and gentle inclines until we eventually reached the beautiful church at Tibidabo. Nuria gave us a wonderful tour of the space and also accompanied us back on a quaint minibus to the Tibidabo Funicular and then to the train station where we were able to trace our way back home. This hike is an absolute gem and is perfect for those who want to experience Barcelona in a peaceful way, free from the noise, congestion and crowds. Would highly recommend for all travelers!
