Hiking in the Black River Gorges National Parc - Native Forest

Description
The Black River Gorges National Park, 67.54 km² of pure, wild, nature. The heart of Mauritius island, home of many endemic species, both animal and floral. It offers a great discovery of the nature of the island. During this hike we will discover different viewpoints from which we can contemplate different parts of the park and its surroundings. Half-way up our climb, we discover the “Mare aux Joncs Gorge” that we like to call the “Bats Valley” because of the thousands of Mauritan Fruit-Bats we can observe there. On top of our ascension, at 400m above sea level we get an amazing sight on the West-Coast, its lagoons and beautiful villages amountains. From there, we start our back back down to the river where we can stop to enjoy a nice swim before continuing to the parking lot of the park.

This was a great hike for our family - kids aged 10 and 17. Eliza was an excellent, knowledgeable guide and we learnt a lot. The forest is beautiful and seeing all the bats asleep down below in the valley, then flying en masse was incredible! We really enjoyed a swim in the river afterwards. A big thank you to Eliza, who expertly led this hike and our dolphin kayaking trip also!
Henri was a great guide during this hike, he explained everything very well to us.
Great walk with Henri, an excellent guide, very kind and very attentive, who explains the fauna, flora, and history well.
Our family, including two children, joined two excursions organised by Yanature: a hike in Black River Gorges National Park and a kayaking tour around Île aux Bénitiers. We thoroughly enjoyed both trips. Our guides - Jordan in Black River Gorges and Yudish on the kayaking tour - did a fantastic job and made sure we had a great time. The kayaking tour was especially unforgettable - halfway through, we were caught in a heavy downpour, but we always knew exactly what to do and felt well looked after. Thank you!
Thanks to Henri for his experience and his kindness. The hike was very pleasant and we recommend it! Severine
Super beautiful hike. Great view. Very nice and knowledgeable guide Rowin. Highly recommended.
Warm welcome on our arrival from guide Paj. Good manageable refreshing walk. Paj very knowledgable and informative of the area and flora and fauna. Many thanks.
We had an amazing time on our hike and our tour guide Gillies was awesome 🙌.Gilles not only led a safe journey he was knowledgeable about local plants and took some great pictures of us. We would highly recommend this tour and please request Gillies as your tour guide.
A really enjoyable hike with knowledgeable guides, who made it fun and interesting!
Myself and my wife had a fabulous guided trek on the Pilgrims Trail with our experienced and knowledgable guide Yudish. Details for meeting and starting the trek were clear. Our group was small (three of us) which made the tour very manageable and personal. At points, the walk gets fairly steep but all perfectly OK with a reasonable degree of fitness and it never felt ‘technical’ or challenging. With a reasonable bit of altitude gained, we had some amazing views and all along the route Yudish answered questions and shared great local knowledge about the history of the island, its geology and both flora and fauna. As a whole it was lovely so I would definitely recommend for those wanting to get out and see some of this beautiful island!
