If you're interested in Ausangate lakes I would book with a different company. The lakes themselves are beautiful, just be prepared for the altitude (bring extra water, med) and for the long walk. Bring a snack since you might not get back for lunch until early afternoon. The pick-up in the morning was disorganized. There was no communication the night before about more specific pick-up time (they did reply when I messaged), and in the morning the guide and driver still didn't have all the addresses. It took almost an hour to make 3 stops in Cusco because we kept circling around. Our guide was very hands-off. We had to ask about the itinerary details (lunch before or after hot springs, timing of hike, etc). He didn't share any information about the land or people in the region except for glacier elevations. He didn't pace the group well or check in early when a couple hikers were struggling. The faster hikers were given the OK to head back to our lunch spot after seeing all the lakes, but we almost got lost because there were a couple of forks in the road in town that he hasn't told us about. Food was mediocre. Overall, I would recommend either spending a bit more on a more reputable company for better organization, education, and food, or just get a cheap ride and do a self-guided hike on your own time.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize that the organization, communication, and guide service did not meet your expectations. We truly value your feedback regarding the pickup, hiking support, and food, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve. We are glad you enjoyed the beauty of the Ausangate lakes, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.
