Hawaiian Salt Farm Tour in Kona

Description
Hawai‘i Island’s only working salt farm, featured on Guy Fieri’s “Guy Hawaiian Style,” is located on a scenic 7-acre oceanfront site in the Hawai‘i Ocean Science & Technology Park (HOST Park)—a community dedicated to ocean innovation. Our salt is hand-harvested by our Chief Salt Maker from deep ocean water drawn from 2,200 feet below the surface. On tour, you’ll learn about the cultural significance of Hawaiian salt (paʻakai), the journey of our ultra-pure water, and our solar-evaporation process. Enjoy a guided salt tasting, with pure, flavored, and smoked varieties. Optional cold deep ocean water foot soaks are available. If you're short on time, visit our retail store—just minutes from the airport. Through our Give Back program, 1% of revenue supports marine debris cleanup and coral restoration. The tour is partially wheelchair accessible—please contact us for details.

What an amazing experience! It was a unique combination of seeing the operations and learning so much in the natural setting with a spa feel. It was the right amount of time and information. The salt tasting was fun and the store was perfect.
One of the most informative and educational tours we have ever experienced! The guide was amazing and made the tour not only educational but fun!
Very informative ! Candee did an awesome job with the tour- very passionate about the salt farm. Her enthusiasm was infectious! Highly recommend! Salt tasting was phenomenal.
Very informative! Loved the salt tasting, too!!! It was really cool to learn about the different coarseness of salt and how it develops.
My Beautiful Bride visited the Kona Salt Farm. I read many positive reviews, but my expectations were low. I mean, really, why would anyone want to your and do tastings at a fair farm? We surprised ourselves at how much we enjoyed the Kona Salt Farm Tour. Our tour guide Mari charmed us with her easy manner and genuine enthusiasm. We learned about the history, chemistry, and geology of farming sea salt. After enduring the hot outdoor part of the tour (our tour was 2:30-3:30 pm), it was a relief to come inside and taste how 16 different salts brought out flavors in cucumber, cherry tomato, and pineapple chunks.
crappy park you can't do anything
Educational and fun! We added the magnesium foot soak on to our tour as well. It was such a neat experience.
Welcoming from the start with ice cold mineral water with their magnesium drops waiting for the tour group. Our guide was lovely, knowledgeable and made an effort to know everyone by name. It was a large group too! Salt tasting was fun and delicious. Worth the hour.
