Cradle of African-American culture and bastion of the struggle for equal rights, Harlem is no longer the ghetto it was in the 1970s. On the contrary, it has become one of the most dynamic neighborhoods and trendy New York! And even if it was done at the cost of a certain gentrification (gentrification), the district has preserved most of its cultural heritage: street art, hip-hop, gospel, jazz and soul food! We can't count the number of personalities who were born or lived in Harlem: Louis Armstrong, James Baldwin, Malcom X, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marcus Garvey… So many Harlemites who have contributed to the exceptional heritage of this district steeped in history. From Baptist churches oozing the fervor of gospel masses to the legendary hall of the Apollo Theater, from the small streets formed of typical brownstones to the prestigious Columbia University ... succumb to the discreet charm of Harlem!

A walking tour of Harlem with Guillaume that was truly exciting and very enriching! He allowed us to better understand the neighborhood, its past, its present, but also its future prospects. We discovered much more than just the iconic landmarks: the history of Harlem, its evolution, the culture and the communities that shaped the neighborhood, but also many aspects of New York life and its history. Guillaume is passionate, very interesting, and knows how to share his knowledge with a lot of enthusiasm. A tour that we highly recommend to discover Harlem differently and better understand New York!
An absolutely exceptional tour of Harlem with Aymeric! Probably the best guided tour I have taken in New York. Aymeric is fascinating, very cultured, and knows the city and its history perfectly. He helped us discover Harlem well beyond the tourist spots, with a huge number of anecdotes and explanations, all while knowing how to captivate the whole family, young and old alike. You learn a lot without ever seeing the time pass. For me, it is clearly a must-do in New York. A huge thank you to Aymeric, whom I recommend with my eyes closed!
Our guide, Aymeric, was exceptional: approachable, passionate, and very generous in sharing his knowledge. He knows the history of Harlem as if he were born there. His explanations are clear, precise, and captivating, and he knows how to bring every place to life. Thanks to him, we discovered the history of the famous brownstones, the Apollo Theater, as well as two (among many others) of the notable figures like Harriet Tubman, whom I did not know, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr., whose commitment deeply marked Harlem. Anecdotes rich in meaning that allow for a better understanding of the identity of this neighborhood. Beyond the historical facts, it is above all the love he has for Harlem that touched us. He knew how to convey his attachment to this neighborhood to us with a lot of emotion and sincerity. We will no longer look at Harlem the same way. A huge thank you for this authentic and enriching experience!
We discovered Harlem with Fred, who offered us an extremely interesting tour. The identity and evolution of the neighborhood are addressed through murals, statues, and historical explanations from Fred, who leads this tour with dynamism, relaxation, and humor. Highly recommended +++
Our very first tour of our week Audrey was top-notch... In just a few hours of touring Harlem, we already understood everything about the American way of life, all while taking a historical and fascinating tour of Harlem! What a beautiful encounter that was only the beginning of an unforgettable trip thanks to Fred who took over for all the other mornings of our week!
Our guide Fred gave us an incredible morning: history of the neighborhood, history of New York, American lifestyle, great recommendations. Everything was perfect. We are returning home enriched with culture, images, and memories that will remain etched in our minds. Bravo Fred for your talent as a guide and thank you for your generosity.
A great tour of Harlem accompanied by Aymeric, a French-American photographer living in the neighborhood. His profile and background are perfect for understanding the history of Harlem. We were also able to ask him a few questions to understand the lifestyle of New Yorkers.
Very nice tour of Harlem with Aymeric. He knows the history (and the little stories) of this neighborhood where he has lived for 11 years with his African-American wife. That is to say, he is in his element. The conversation is very easy, we covered more general topics about the USA, topics that interest teenagers, and we went into some shops. And of course, on time and at the agreed meeting place. I recommend it 100%!!
Very interesting and lively visit Thanks to Fred for his enthusiasm and for all the explanations and historical inserts on the evolution of New York City
We did the tour as a family with Aymeric and it was a superb experience! A true immersion in the Harlem neighborhood, we learned a huge amount.. Thanks again Aymeric for this great experience!
