Our guide was friendly and engaging. He knows his subject!!!!!!
Amazing Experience learning about the history of lower manhattan. Visiting sites like Trinity Church, Bowling Green, and Federal Hall and so many sites educating me about George Washington, Alexander Hamilton. Best Tour I have ever taken
Outstanding itinerary, enthusiasm of presentation, and quality/depth of the material shared. That was an exemplary tour! Bruce Racond is excellent.
Our guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable!
Bruce gives a great overview of the importance of New York City, Hamilton, Washington to the Revolutionary War. This is an easy walking tour that covers a lot of ground in lower Manhattan. Even if the historical structures are not present, you're on site to where historically significant events took place and get a sense for certain strategic places. Bruce has an encyclopedic knowledge of people, places, and dates relevant to the subject matter - all relayed in an entertaining and helpful manner. This tour is good for young and old alike. We had some teens and preteens on our tour and they seemed to enjoy the history and presentation.
I love American history, so my wife bought me tickets for this tour while we were on vacation in NYC. It was an amazing experience. Meeting point was easy to find, and the tour started right no time. Bruce is an exceptional historian and engaging story teller. He really made the history come alive. There are amazing things about NYC that I learned that I had walked past without ever knowing dozens of times. I enjoyed every part of the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is interested in the American Revolution and the role that NYC played in that story.
This is an amazing walking tour that can be done in rain or shine. The guide, Bruce, is a magnificent storyteller of the revolutionary period. One of the best tours I have taken in NYC and highly recommend this tour for visitors and seasoned New Yorkers too! You have no idea how much history you just walk by doing your daily. New York stuff! Looking forward to doing another one of his tours in the future.
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of the Hamilton & Washington Revolutionary tour! I am very grateful for your kind words and recommendation. Yes, there is so much history in Lower Manhattan from before, during, and after the Revolutionary War that most people are unaware of, even those who live and work there. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing you again for another tour. Thanks again, Bruce
Our Hamilton and Washington Revolutionary Walking Tour with Bruce was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to New York City. It was raining when our tour began, so rather than rushing us outside, Bruce gathered us under cover and gave a fascinating introduction to pre Revolutionary New York City and the American colonies as a whole. My daughter and I were hooked from that moment. His ability to paint a vivid picture of life before the Revolution made everything we saw afterward so much more meaningful. Bruce is far more than a tour guide. He is a gifted storyteller who has mastered the art of bringing history to life. His passion for America's founding is unmistakable, and his knowledge of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Revolutionary New York is truly exceptional. Rather than presenting a string of dates and historical facts, Bruce skillfully weaves together the people, places, pivotal events, historical documents, and timeless quotations into a rich and unforgettable narrative. As you walk the streets of Lower Manhattan, you begin to imagine the conversations, conflicts, and sacrifices that unfolded there, leaving with a deeper appreciation for the remarkable individuals who shaped our nation. As if the experience weren't memorable enough, we happened to take the tour on the anniversary of the day Alexander Hamilton was mortally wounded in his duel with Aaron Burr. Bruce thoughtfully acknowledged the significance of the date. Standing in the city where so much of Hamilton's life unfolded made the day especially poignant. What stayed with me most, however, was the way Bruce concluded the tour. He reminded us of George Washington's words from his First Inaugural Address, describing our republican form of government as an "experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people." It was a fitting conclusion that connected the past to the present with wisdom and humility. If you enjoy American history, appreciate great storytelling, or simply want to experience New York City in a way that goes far beyond the typical tourist attractions, do not miss this tour. My daughter and I have taken several guided tours over the years, and Bruce's ranks among the very best. We will be talking about it for a long time.
Many, many thanks for your generous and thoughtful review, which captures the sentiments, emotions, and insights I always hope to convey with each tour. I appreciate your affirmation. Giving tours is never static and runs both ways. It's such a pleasure to have people who are receptive to what I have to offer. Just as you will be talking about the tour for a long time, I will be thinking about your review. I surely hope to see you and your daughter again for another tour. Thanks again, Bruce
