Itinerary
Vienna
240 min
We set out from Vienna in the morning, trading boulevards for open fields and foothills on a roughly 4-hour westbound drive. In the final hour, the road drifts into the Salzkammergut: clear lakes flash between trees, the slopes gather height, and small villages press close to the shoreline—an easy preview of what’s ahead.
Hallstatt appears suddenly, tucked between water and rock. The tempo drops. You follow the lakeside promenade toward the slender church spire, step into the Market Square, and wander lanes that climb toward the forest.
Hallstatt
60 min
Explore Hallstatt’s essentials with a storyteller-guide: how salt shaped the town, why the Iron Age bears its name, where to frame the perfect lake reflection, and what quiet corners to visit afterward.
Hallstatt
120 min
Enjoy free time in Hallstatt: wander the lakeside promenade for classic spire-and-water views, browse small craft shops and salt-themed souvenirs, and pause in Market Square for coffee or pastries. Follow the Mühlbach stream to quiet photo spots, or climb a lane for rooftops-and-lake panoramas. Then simply sit by the water and take it all in.

Cute trip, bring cash!
Be prepared for long bus ride, bus seats were comfortable and windows were clean so the views for the last hour of the drive were nice. You get 2 break stops one on the way there and one on the way back - beware high costs of grab and go buffet at first stop. Plenty of time to explore at destination and Alex is a wonderful guide with a wealth of historical information that he shares as you arrive and pass certain landmarks. Was super tired by the time we got back to Vienna but worth it if you want to get a glimpse of the Alps and small mountain town. Bring cash! Most vendors in small towns only take cash and ATMs have high transfer fee if you don’t have Euros.

Fantastic trip with Matt, the nicest guide I have ever met
The trip to Hallstatt was wonderful!! Our guide, Matt, was charming, polite, and very professional!! The town was like a fairy tale!! Although it is a lot of kilometers of travel, it is very bearable because there are stops both for breakfast and on the way back!! I really wanted to see this beautiful town and thanks to you it was possible!!

Magnificent
Not many smiles from the staff in the restaurants. Stupid look. The scenery is magnificent, magnificent, it is worth taking this excursion. Good bus driver. Too bad the guide only spoke in English.

The sights were beautiful but I was disappointed that we did not learn much historical information as I have experienced on other tours.

Worth every minute and every penny
Went to Hallstat as it was a spot on my buck list and was beyond my expectations. Beautiful, had spare time to wonder through the town, shop, gaze, feed swans. It was a absolute dream.

Very well planned and...
Very well planned and organised trip. There were a couple of stops on the way for using toilets and having food with plenty of time. Smooth journey to the beautiful Halstatt. Our guide, Mark, was very organised and attentive. We had plenty of time in Halstatt and went to see a castle by the lake as well. Brilliant experience.
