If you have half day layover at Narita air port, this is the ideal trip. Known for its international airport, Narita is also rich in historic sites such as temple, beautiful pagoda, Japanese garden. The tour guide will meet you at JR/Keisei Narita station and the tour starts with strolling along the approach path where you must be attracted with good smell from baked eel restaurants and traditional souvenir shops. At the main gate of Naritasan Shinshoji temple eight different Buddha images and beautifully colored three story pagoda welcome you. Experience Goma ritual held inside the main hall every hour. Head to Great Pagoda of peace where historical artifacts and treasures of this temple are displayed. Then walk in Narita san Park filled with seasonal flowers, pond, waterfall and fountain. The tour finishes at JR/Keisei Narita station.

The tour starts with stroll along the Omotesando approach path toward Naritasan Shinshoji temple. The long path is lined with many Japanese Inns, Restaurants, Sake shops and Souvenir shops. This area flourished as temple town in Edo era.
At the big-scaled Main Gate of Naritasan Shinshoji temple, the big lantern and a pair of scary faced Deva Kings welcome you. Within the compound beautifully curved Three storied Pagoda, Pagoda of Peace are other halls are located. In the Main hall Goma Ritual is held by burning goma sticks every day.
58 meters high Heiwa no Daito, Great peace pagoda is the symbol of Shingon sect of Buddhism. Inside there are exhibitions about how Kabuki family are related to this temple, the history and treasures of this temple are stored.
Naritasan Park covering 165,000 square meters has a large pond, waterfall, and fountain. You can relax viewing seasonal flowers such as apricot, cherry trees, azalea, green foliage in spring and vivid colors of autumn leaves. Calligraphy museum and tea ceremony room are located.
Opened in 1992 Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy covers extensive works of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy from the ancient time to the contemporary and especially the masterpieces from Edo period to contemporary. Japanese Calligraphy is a traditional Japanese performing art. You can see the personality of the artist through their brush strokes.
