Our mud bath in the Totumo volcano

The tour guide was knowledgeable and exceptional! We had a Mercedes bus take us to the site. Our guide, Ana, met us in the lob of our hotel and returned us there personally. We were reminded to bring tip money but I wish we had brought more to buy foods and drinks from the locals. The people are beautiful and very, very nice. From someone who doesn’t speak the language, they make you feel welcome despite that. The mud bath was great, ( get a massage while you’re in it) and the ladies washed us clean from the lagoon, hair and all! We were provided a choice of an empanada or an arepa, and water or glass bottle coke 😁 they took beautiful videos and pictures (tip the cameraman) that will last a lifetime. And they kept our belongings until we were done washing in the lagoon (tip him, too). In all, we paid about $50/person in US dollars and tipped 10,000 pesos (look that up, it’s not a lot of US $$) for each person that helped. I definitely recommend this trip. The mud is soothing and healing, a once in a lifetime experience!! Thanks, Ana!!!

Good

We had a wonderful time. Ceasar was a respectful, friendly, and great host. His partner Micra was respectful. He thoroughly explained what our trip included and how to go about our interactions with the locals that worked at the location. His English was perfect if you're concerned about having a host that translates well.

Very unreliable, they can cancel on you

This was a terribly unreliable company, when I ask confirmation if I can book, they confirmed it was an option. Then as soon as I paid they sent me a message that they were going to cancel it and they did not issue me a refund. They instructed me to go third parties to get the refund, which I have not yet received. I highly recommend choosing an alternate company.

Volcano is pretty cool, but a half-day tour is enough.

I had actually booked the half-day tour, but because there weren't enough interested people, I got a free upgrade to the full day. Mud bathing in the volcano is quite funny; it's a strange feeling to float there. It's a bit annoying that you have to pay extra for every "service" at the location. I can understand photos and cleaning, but carrying shoes down is nonsense. In my opinion, the stay at the beach club is rather superfluous.

Terrible experience

They never contacted me; I was the one who established communication an hour before the activity. I was ready at 8 in the hotel lobby, as my ticket instructions said. They notified me that they would begin the pickup process at 9:30. I waited without success. At 9:48 they told me they were still in the pickup process And at 10:03 they tell me that they are rescheduling the activity for the next day, because they evacuated the volcano area due to the earthquake. To which I replied that it was not possible on my part, since I would be returning to my country. I requested a refund for the activity, which they questioned, and to this moment I have not received it.
