Our tour guide was a very pleasant and knowledgeable gent who showed us around the park. The "tour" part of the "photography tour" was great. The "photography" part was non-existant. I had taken a photography tour last year in Alaska, and the guide showed me how to use my camera settings, and how to set up and compose shots to improve my photography. I was really hoping to learn and improve my photography skills with the help of the guide. That did not happen. I set expectations before our trip via text, letting the guide know (although what else would one expect from a "photography tour"?) that I was looking forward to learning from him and improving my photography skills. We got to the first stop, which was a waterfall. We walked out to the waterfall area and stood around, while the guide gave us all kinds of historical info. Finally, I asked him, "where should I position myself for optimal composition of my photos?" He walked us up the trail a little more, but gave no further instruction regarding setting up the shot or composition. He recommended we find the setting on our camera that would blur the water flow. He didn't know where the setting was on a Samsung cell phone camera. He spent lots of time showing us his beautiful wildlife photos, but no time showing us how to capture our own photos. If you are looking for a nice tour of the park, great. If you are looking for a tour specifically with a photographer who will help you get amazing photos, this isn't your guide. He was focused on finding wildlife, which was great.Sadly, the big animals were hiding today. however, there was beautiful landscape scenery all around, and he had no interest in helping us photograph any of that. We drove around, and he pointed out places for us to stop when we come back tomorrow on our own. We stopped at 2 waterfalls, one meadow, and the continental divide.
Tour of a lifetime! My husband and I booked a 1/2 day Mountains to Sky tour for our Anniversary trip to Estes Park. It was worth every penny. Our guide Winslow safely got us near Moose, Elk, Marmots, hummingbirds and my now favorite Pika! Not to mention gorgeous Mountain View’s, water falls, meadows and even a Tundra. He was extremely knowledgeable of the wildlife, history and geology of the area. I walked away with way more knowledge and appreciation for the area than expected. If you have never been to Estes Park or the RMNP, I strongly recommend going with a guide so you can safely traverse the area and get amazing photos while you’re there. Book the tour, you won’t regret it!!
Winslow was amazing! So knowledgeable, personable and talented! He knew so much about the park and the spots to maximize our wildlife photo opportunities! Highly recommend!!
I am having a hard time writing this review because I cannot find enough superlatives to adequately explain this tour. Jennifer was FANTASTIC and she is a GEM!! Not only was she punctual, knowledgeable, professional, fun and knew all the best spots, she whistled and Pika showed up. I am inquisitive and ask lots of questions and Jennifer not only answered, she gave historical or scientific perspectives relating to the answer. This is such a beautiful area and Jennifer made sure we experienced the best places for the half of our tour. My daughter and I learned a lot and had a spectacular time. Thank you to Jennifer!!
Absolutely stunning! The views were mama Inc, and Jennifer’s knowledge of the park and area was top notch!
We had a great time with Dave B. We got to see most of the park, learned a lot about the history of the park and it's founders. Dave is a very talented photographer and sent us lovely wildlife shots he took. Would highly recommend this tour. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the views while he drove as well! Thanks Dave!
Wonderful experience! Loved Leah. It was so nice to be able to just relax and enjoy the area. Highly recommend and will do again. She was happy to stop as much or as little as we wanted her to. Never felt rushed.
Mike was fantastic! Highly recommend him and this company! They made it easy to meet up at a local coffee chop and off we went. We saw a lot of Wildlife.
This is a truly remarkable experience; we would give it 10 stars if it were possible.. Our tour was with Dave and he delivered beyond any expectations. Noting that we had perfect weather and started early in the day, we were able to see multiple moose, numerous elk (one of which was no more than 10 feet from us), deer, and marmots. As the description of the tour details, the tour guide drives your vehicle. Dave drove our car with skill, and we were never concerned about the vehicle, even on non-paved roads. It's clear Dave has a passion for wildlife photography and spends considerable time in the park. He was able to find the animals at almost every stop we made. He also brings a high-powered scope that he uses to grab video and snaps that he shares with you at the end of the tour. He also shares his knowledge of how to improve the quality of the photos you take with your phone camera. We had many remarkable experiences in the park, and this tour was certainly at the top of the list.
Terrible, we didn't know that they will be using my car and my fuel to go through the tour, the tour was the way up to the meeting location so we basically paid to sit in our car and go around the same place we came from. The person who's driving is terrible at driving and took at least 2 potholes and almost scraped the whole side of the car. She was a great tour though and very nice. Overall it feels like straight robbery 734 dollars paid to sit in our car. Absolutely crazy.
Thank you for sharing your concern. You expressed that you were not aware that the tour was in your own vehicle. As you booked through Viator/TripAdvisor, the description states, "Our private guides travel with you in the comfort of your own vehicle." Our tour guests most often appreciate the personalized nature of a private tour with a personal guide in the comfort of their own vehicle. Because you had a larger group, RMNPhotographer texted you the day you made your reservation to verify this was the right tour for you. Our guide also texted you the day prior to the tour. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response to our texts which might have allowed us to clarify any questions you may have had. The potholes you describe is on Old Fall River Road, a road you requested to go up, which is a beautiful one-way road to the top of RMNP. Because it is dirt with many vehicles traveling this route, there are some worn dirt areas as there are on any dirt road. We work hard to avoid these and make the trip as comfortable as possible. We do appreciate that you shared that your guide was a "great tour though and very nice."
