Hike into Nature

We had an amazing day away from the city and into nature. We learnt about the different plants species of wildlife from our extremely knowledgeable guide Palermo. The vistas from our view point of Santiago and the Andes were fantastic. We were rewarded at the end of our hike with a delicious serving of local cheeses olives salami and of course delicious local red wine. I can highly recommend this tour if you are wanting a a 1/2 tour out of Santiago into nature

Operator response

¡Muchas gracias! So happy to hear Paloma's knowledge and our beautiful vistas made your day unforgettable. There's something magical about stepping away from the city bustle into nature and being rewarded with those Andes views, local cheeses, olives, and Chilean wine. That's the Ecordua experience! We hope to welcome you back soon. 🍷🏔️

Trip highlight hike in the Andes

We loved our four hour tour with Joaquin! The views of the Andes and Santiago were spectacular - it was breathtaking. Joaquin was super knowledgeable and shared information about Santiago on the drive up to the mountains. We had a great chat while hiking and Joaquin told us about the local flora and fauna, the history of the area, protected areas, challenges faced with development, and more. I was impressed with Joaquin’s relaxed style - friendly but also calm and steady - he clearly tailors the hikes to his client’s abilities and interests. The trail was muddy from the recent rain but we picked our way through and thanks to the hiking poles he supplied, we made it through with ease. After the hike we enjoyed wine, cheese, olives, chips and chocolates - and more good conversation. The tour was a highlight of our trip to Chile and I would not hesitate to book another tour with Ecordua. As a parting gift, he shared a great dinner recommendation that was also a highlight for the trip. Don’t delay, if you have a chance to book with Ecordua, go for it!

Operator response

Thank you for recognizing our relaxed, knowledgeable style and our commitment to tailoring each experience. The muddy trails, the hiking poles, the wine and conversation after, it's all part of creating a genuine connection with our land. We're so grateful this tour was a highlight of your Chile trip, and we'd love to welcome you back to Ecordua anytime! 🏔️

Spectacular half day hike with a wonderful guide

What an excellent trip out of the city and a great hike. We really enjoyed views of the city and valleys from the hike, and we enjoyed seeing all the ranches and the horses grazing right beside the hiking trail. Our guide Frank was super knowledgeable about the plant life and Chilean countryside. We also enjoyed the delicious wine and cheese with fresh fruits after the hike. Everything on the tour was just perfect for a half day tour.

Operator response

Hi! Thank you for the lovely review. I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed the hike, the views, and the countryside. Frank will be glad to know you appreciated his knowledge as well. And I’m glad the wine, cheese, and fruit were a nice way to finish the experience. Hope to see you again on another adventure!

A truly memorable experience

We had a wonderful experience with Ecordua, a small family-run company based in Santiago, Chile, offering a variety of trips with a strong focus on enjoying the outdoors. We joined one of their horseback riding trips as complete novices and couldn’t have felt more comfortable, safe, or well cared for. Our guide, Josefina, was outstanding: a well-trained and highly knowledgeable outdoor guide, but above all genuinely enthusiastic about her country and passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for nature with us. This review is both a thank-you for the lovely experience we had and a way to express our support for small businesses like Ecordua, which promote more sustainable tourism and offer a far more personal and meaningful experience for their guests. We were initially drawn to Ecordua by their neat, clear, and informative website—and we were delighted to find that the experience delivered exactly what was promised. May our paths cross again someday. Highly recommended!

Operator response

Thank you so much for this beautiful and thoughtful message. It truly means a lot to us. I’m very happy to hear that you felt comfortable and well cared for, especially as first-time riders, and that Josefina could share her passion for nature and Chile with you. Supporting sustainable, small-scale tourism is at the heart of what we do, so your words are especially meaningful. Thank you for trusting Ecordua and for your support. We sincerely hope our paths cross again one day

A fantastic excursion, start to finish!

My adult daughter and I booked this as a half day outing when we were in Santiago for several days. Easy to reserve online, and bonus points that Ecordua picks up directly at our hotel! Our guide, Frank, was friendly, knowledgeable, and full of enthusiasm for the outdoor activities available in the greater Santiago area. As others have noted, the hike is rocky and steep for the first 15 minutes or so, but becomes a nice dirt path after that. The provided hiking poles were helpful for stability. When we asked what flora/fauna we might see, Frank gave a short list which included small reptiles, rabbits, and condors. Not five minutes later, a HUGE condor circled right above us, what a tremendous sight! The hike felt good - a moderately challenging hike that left us feeling accomplished, but, not worn out. We enjoyed the wine/cheese picnic after (with yummy strawberries, stuffed olives, chips, etc.), and continued chatting with Frank about the local area, and our trip in general. Really, a lovely outing, we recommend this!

Operator response

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely review. I’m really happy you and your daughter enjoyed the hike, the picnic, and that special moment with the condor. I’ll be sure to pass your kind words to Frank. It’s great to hear it was such a rewarding and enjoyable outing. Thank you for the recommendation

Perfect short hike. It was a little challenging steep in the beginning but leveled off after 15 minutes

Operator response

Thanks for sharing your experience. That initial climb can be a challenge, but we’re glad you enjoyed how the trail settles in after the first stretch.

Half day hike in the Andies with city views and picnic

It was a terrific 4 mile hike as described. The guide asked if we wanted to modify the planned excursion. She was very accommodating. She was fantastic answering our never ending questions and describing Chilean culture, fauna, and flora. We had a wonderful time.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing this! I’m glad the hike lived up to expectations and that you enjoyed learning about our culture, wildlife, and plants. Delighted to hear your guide made it such a great experience. Hope to see you again!
