Macaws and Monkeys!

We were visiting Roatan and my wife asked if we could go to Gumbalimba park and take the tour. We walked from Half Moon Bay, along the beach. It took about 45 minutes. The tour guide was prompt and our tour was private. A lot of information for the history of the island, and then the Rope Bridge, about 30 ft above a drainage, and about 200 ft across. Authentic! Then came the scarlet macaws, the national bird of Honduras. Beautiful birds! And last but not least was the Capuchin Monkeys. My wife fell in love with them. Excellent tour that lasted about an hour.

Great time at Gumbalimba and more!

Elias was phenomenal! Communication was great and we had no trouble finding him. He took us all the way around the island, he was very knowledgeable, asked us what we wanted to see and where we did and didn’t want to stop. We stopped at the chocolate factory and the Roatan sign, plus Gumbalimba park - which may be our favorite excursion ever!! Everyone was friendly and the monkeys were a bucket list item for us.

Fine but it's a do-once kind of thing

It's an hour bus ride from the cruise port. It's not a fun ride. They give you a key to a locker and my husband guess that all the keys opened all the lockers, we don't know. The first 40 minutes of the tour is fine if you are an anthropologist and want to have a history lesson. The part with the birds and monkeys is about 20 minutes and great. They aren't supposed to let you hold the birds anymore but they do. And the monkey pix are fun, too. It's ok. Then you board the bus for the beach and lunch. Lunch is skimpy and not all that good. So don't go for the food. They give you a skimpy cup of weak lemonade or water. The beach is nice but the seaweed is cringeworthy. It clings to your feet. The snorkeling is too far out to see anything unless you do a tour or are a good swimmer. The water temp was lovely that day. I wans't all that impressed and would not return.

Operator response

Book with us directly next time; it's a better experience. We would like to clarify that this booking was made through the cruise ship, and those tours typically follow a fixed schedule with larger groups and bus transportation, which can limit the overall experience. When guests book directly with us, we provide a much more personalized service — including private transportation, flexible timing, and a more relaxed pace so you can fully enjoy each stop without feeling rushed. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help future travelers understand the difference in tour options. Our goal is always to deliver a high-quality, enjoyable experience, and we would love the opportunity to provide you with a better one in the future. Warm regards, Josue Elias Mejia Let’s Go Roatan Tours

Nice morning tour with the park guide and animal caretaker

Had a great time here at the park. There were no cruise ships so it was just 3 of us with our tour guide. He as well as the animal caretaker (campucine monkeys/mackay’s) were very informative about the islands history and the animals care. A lot of fun photos with the monkey and birds in the backdrop. Well worth the excursion

Relaxed park with lots to see.

What a great place. Our guide told us all about the trees, the animals and the fauna. The birds were amazing, I could sit and watching Humming birds all day. The white faced monkeys were a delete as were the Macaws. We even say a Cinnamon tree and had the chance to smell the living bark. Plus the cannon ball tree.

Operator response

Thank you for visiting! We're thrilled you enjoyed the wildlife, birds, monkeys, macaws, and trees with us. !!! Josue Elias Mejia Let's Go Roatan Tours

Pleasant Excursion

Elias, my tour guide and owner of Let's Go Roatan Tours, picked me up with his wife and son in the car. It was a pleasure meeting the whole family. While we drove to the park, elias pointed out various sights and gave me a history of the island. At the park there was another tour guide. He also gave a talk on the history of the island. We were introduced to the white faced Capuchin monkeys and macaws. You can have the monkeys and birds sit on you if you like. I declined but others in my group enjoyed it. Overall, this was a pleasant excursion.

Great guides to get to park (Let's Go Roatan Tours) and in the park. We saw a monkey and macaw during the zipline and several during the park tour. Everyone was friendly and ensured a great experience. The communication beforehand, to coordinate the excursion, was perfect.
