Bob and Neil were amazing and this tour went over and above every expectation we had. 10 out of 10!
Fabulous experience watching many whales (Orcas and Humonacks) multiple times along with sea otters and a seal. Kinsey was a very knowledgeable and delightful guide and Ryan and Captain Ed provided great guidance to areas where these impressive mammals frolicked and mated!
The captain and naturalist were terrific and professional and, yes, we saw whales! Wow. Soooo many! Best of all was seeing two breaches! I found the meeting a little confusing but got to the excursion hub and the right spot in plenty of time, nonetheless. I highly recommend this whale watch. Wear layers! It can get chilly out on 5e water, even on a nice, warm day like we had.
The crew of young women were fabulous! They really made sure to give us the very best opportunity to see many animals & beautiful spots. The boat was easy to view wildlife from, stable and comfortable.
This whale watching experience was very fun. We not only got to see whales, we got to see sea lions, bears, and dolphins. Great experience for all ages!
We saw some orcas and sea otters. Lots of spouts but always too far away to get pictures. Captain was very knowledgeable and did his best to make sure we saw whales. Just wish we had better positioning as other boats where able to be much closer than we were, at times blocking out view of the whales.
The boat was the perfect size, not a large "cattle boat" but not too small to feel uncomfortable. The ladies were great. Our captain and her crewmember were knowledgeable and really wanted to show us a good time. The whales also didn't disappoint and were plentiful. When one started breaching at the end of the trip, the captain stuck around to make sure we saw the show. A really great time.
OMG Amazing experience! Alona and Leslie were awesome..... sharing their personal experiences and knowledge with our group. It was truly an interesting peek into whales in Alaska. The statement made by Leslie, this place is special, is so true! We saw so many whales all around the boat. as we were leaving one breached 3 times. Great photos! Definitely checked that box on my bucket list. Thank you ladies for an amazing day!
If you are in Icy Straight and want to whale watch, this is the company to book with ! They are local and the entire excursion and tour guides do not get any better than Alayna and Neil. Alayna is a local who grew up fishing the water there with her father and you can tell . Her knowledge and personality is incredible. There was about 16 of us on the boat and she meet all of our expectations and more. Saw orca’s and humpbacks immediately and then we mentioned we were hoping to see bears in Alaska, so she asked if everyone would be alright going to see them on our way back to shore. Sure enough, she found them on the banks within 5 mins and let us watch them for the last 15 mins. Local girl, local company, book with them !
Capt Patrick and Neil were great, and the weather was spectacular- though, of course it gets chilly out on the water. Just a perfect day. Then someone yelloed, “Breach!” And voila! A gentleman said, “The silly thing is we’re expecting it to happen twice.” He barely finished the sentence when it did! Wow. So many whales! Made my Alaska trip! It’s a little hard to find the cruise. You go to the Icy Strait Whale Adventures booth at the Excursion Hub, a short walk from the green gondolas.
