Perfect day in Guachimontones
This was our second tour with Diego after Chapala and Ajijic and I can’t recommend him enough! We chose this tour because it was the only one that allowed us to visit Guachimontones without having to go to Tequila. Diego provided the perfect amount of information, explaining everything in a clear way. His English is excellent because he lived in Canada and New Zealand, and he has an academic background in social sciences, so you can tell he is clearly passionate and super knowledgeable about history and archeology, which made the experience even more interesting. After visiting the pyramids, we explored the town of Teuchitlan and fell in love with it. It had such a peaceful atmosphere and Diego provided fascinating context that helped us understand both the history and the current situation of the community, including some challenging topics that many guides might shy away from. We visited the main square, a small local market and a cultural center that we would never have found on our own. We had a chance to interact with the locals and try artisanal bread in a local shop, which was particularly amazing! We ended the day with a delicious lunch and beers at a restaurant with beautiful views of a local lake. It was a perfect day! and having an entirely private tour was especially helpful because my elderly parents like to explore at their own pace. 10/10!

Absolutely beautiful, charming and historic.
Diego was an amazing guide who took the time to educate us prior to arrival. The grounds are beautiful in July due to being a rainy season. The artifacts on display to show how life was lived and purpose.
We also visited the small town of Teuchitlan and had a wonderful lunch by the water.

Unforgettable trip
Diego arrived to our hotel perfectly on time. The driver Gustavo drove safely and carefully, while Diego advised us of the history and details of the places we visited. The distillery and the agave fields were great to see, and learning the culture of the region was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Educational and fun experience
If you are looking for an authentic, local's view of these 2 amazing places, look no further than Diego's tour. My wife and I started our day at 7:30 and would highly recommend that you do the same as we were able to beat the crowd at the Guachimontones and get a head start in Tequila, even on a Saturday. There were still people coming in as we were heading back to Guadalajara.
We are always impressed as we explore new areas in Mexico and having Diego as our personal tour guide for the day was the perfect way to experience these amazing landmarks. Diego is very knowledgeable on the area and it is easy to see that he has a passion for history as well as folklore. The information he's equipped with is a perfect amount without feeling overloaded.
He recommenced many good places to eat, drink, and shop, but ultimately left the decision up to us. There is lots to do in Tequila, so don't be shy if you have an idea of something specific you'd like to see.
We were on the fence about trying to travel on our own to these sites and we would have been without 90% of the interesting information and history without Diego. Not to mention we would have not gotten the delicious local food. "When you see the abuelas in their aprons, that's how you know good food is coming," he said. If you are on the fence, you will not regret your day with Diego.

A Great Day with Diego
We really enjoyed our tour of both the Town of Tequilla and the Guachimontone Pyramids with Diego. He was extremely well versed on the history of both areas as well as where to eat along the way. The tour of the tequila factory was wonderful and his connections with the owners of the distillery made it an extra special experience.

Muchas gracias amigo! Best wishes and I hope to see you both again soon.

Thank you, Diego!
We had an incredible day with Diego! He was professional, SO knowledgeable, personable, friendly and overall, just a wonderful person to spend the day with. We learned so much from him and got to see things we would have otherwise missed. He also gave fantastic recommendations for places to eat and drink. We would definitely book with him again!

Our favorite tour by far!
This was our favorite tour! We took a total of four tours in Mexico - 2 in Jalisco and 2 in Yucatan, and this was by far the best.
Diego was timely and great with communicating ahead of the trip. I appreciated that he had a driver so it felt very safe to talk and ask questions during the drive (whereas in other trips, the tour guide was also the driver). I liked that Diego provided enough information and background on the history of Guachimontones and Tequila, without hovering. He let us explore on our own but was always nearby for questions.
We got to pick where we had lunch in Tequila, I didn't realize how much this mattered until we took a tour to Chapala where the guide dropped us off at a restaurant that was expensive, slow, and not worth the wait.
Overall, I highly recommend this tour. It could not have been better!
Thanks Diego for a great experience.

See the pyramids in the morning, then learn about agave's gift to Mexico.
This full day trip was full of new experiences, underscored by the informed commentary of our wonderful guide. Our driver was excellent, and the day felt like a true luxury, just us exploring the pyramids and not just Tequila but the surrounding area. I felt like Diego listened to our interests and questions and planned the day around us, instead of fitting us to a reahearsed speech. I have had two tours with him and recommend him very highly. Well worth the money.
