Great Wall at Gubeikou and Jinshanling Private Sunset Tour

I actually found Leo because he was recommended by ChatGPT. I was looking for a private guide who spoke English well and could take my girlfriend and me to see a quieter, less touristy part of the Great Wall. Leo was incredible. He picked us up from our hotel at 11am and dropped us back off at 9pm after a full day out. We visited two different sections of the Great Wall and encountered very few other tourists along the way. Besides seemingly knowing everything there is to know about the Great Wall, Chinese history, technology and politics, Leo is also a great photographer. He even brought his own camera and took some fantastic photos of us throughout the day. If you're only going to visit the Great Wall once in your life, I can think of no one better than Leo to take you. 5/5 stars.

Leo is simply the best, and I can prove it — I came back! I first found Leo online in 2025 when a girlfriend and I were in Beijing and decided last-minute we wanted to visit the Great Wall. The price was incredibly reasonable for a private driver and guide for two people, and Leo delivered far beyond expectations. He was knowledgeable, warm, and patient with all our questions. When I accidentally left a bag in his van, he went out of his way to return it — no fuss, just pure kindness. I knew right then I'd be reaching out again. The following year, I returned to Beijing with a much bigger crew: my Chinese husband, both of our parents, and myself — six people ranging in age from 32 (and pregnant!) to 79. Leo rose to the occasion beautifully and spent 3 full days with us in Beijing. The planning process was truly collaborative — he listened carefully to our preferences, offered suggestions that genuinely elevated the trip, and together we built an itinerary that felt completely tailored to our group. Then, just as importantly, he stayed flexible once we were actually on the ground. With a multigenerational group and daily changing needs, that adaptability was key. He pre-arranged all our tickets and even dinner reservations, so we never waited in lines or scrambled for a table — we just showed up and enjoyed. He even navigated around the crowds and disruptions caused by Trump's visit to the city, and we still managed to pack an incredible amount into our time there. Everything ran like clockwork. Leo and the driver coordinated seamlessly, the time was spent efficiently, and the vehicle was spacious and comfortable. We all learned so much, and Leo's English is absolutely outstanding, making every explanation and conversation effortless. And an amazing added bonus - Leo has a high-quality camera and is an amazing photographer and sent us treasured photos that we'll keep forever! I cannot emphasize enough how special it is to have a guide who can help you plan something thoughtful in advance and then roll with whatever the day brings. This was such an unforgettable experience from our honeymoon. Our guide, Adele, was so professional and knowledgeable. She was able to guide us to the best spot to watch the sunset. Watching the sunset at the Great Wall with no one else around will be a core memory I will cherish forever. We cannot recommend this experience enough. Make sure you request Adele if you want the best possible tour of the Great Wall!

We did a private tour to The Great Wall of China, Jinshanling in the morning, and Gubeikou for the sunset. It was Chinese holidays, but these two parts of the wall were very empty, since they are far away from Beijing, but it was worth the long trip. It was not our first time at the Great Wall, but this time we really appreciated it, no people, no noise, it allowed us to calmly appreciate the grandeur of this gigantic master piece, it was absolutely breathtaking. We had a wonderful lunch in a local village, with very tasty food. Leo, from Beijing Walking Tours, made our day a perfect family day on holiday. We highly recommend! The tour was incredible, absolutely breath taking. Our guide was amazing! His name is Leo and he deserves all the praise for making our experience 10 times better. The nicest person you will ever meet, he was prepared for anything and even brought a camera to take some great videos and pictures of us. Truly a great guide and an even better company. I cannot recommend this tour enough, the place was not crowded at all, there were moments where we were completely alone. If you have a chance I highly recommend this trip and specifically I highly recommend Leo as a guide, I am enchanted. This was a really amazing day tour. The two sections of the wall we visited were beautiful and a nice contrast to each other. Leo was our guide and he was very informative and kind and was patient when we needed breaks. He is an amateur photographer and took some incredible pictures of us in the perfect locations, which he shared with us the day after the tour.
