Lëkurësi Castle, which is just a few kilometers from Saranda. Located on a hilltop, this castle offers one of the best panoramic views of Saranda, the Ionian Sea, and the surrounding hills. What to do: Explore the Castle: Though in ruins, Lëkurësi Castle is still an impressive sight. You can walk through the old stone walls and towers, imagining what it might have been like in the 16th century when it was built by the Ottomans. Enjoy the Views: From the top of the castle, you can see Saranda, Ksamil, the islands, and parts of Greece across the sea. It's a great spot for photos.
The Blue Eye
Saranda to Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) The Blue Eye is a stunning natural spring located about 20 km (12 miles) from Saranda, nestled in the mountains. The crystal-clear water of the Blue Eye creates an intense blue and turquoise hue, which is why it's called "Syri i Kaltër" (meaning "Blue Eye"). What to do: Explore the Blue Eye Spring: The area around the Blue Eye is lush and green, making it a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy nature. The water is a cool 10°C (50°F), and although it's not recommended to swim due to the powerful flow, you can enjoy the scenery and take photos. Hike Around: There are several walking trails in the area. You can enjoy a short hike through the surrounding forest or follow the paths along the stream that feeds the Blue Eye.
Gjirokaster
Gjirokastër is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture and beautiful stone houses. What to do in Gjirokastër: Gjirokastër Castle: The centerpiece of the city, this castle dates back to the 12th century and offers incredible views over the city and the surrounding valley. Inside, you'll find an old military museum and a large collection of weapons. Old Bazaar: Wander through the cobbled streets of the old bazaar, where you can shop for traditional crafts, antiques, and souvenirs. The bazaar is lined with stone houses and shops selling local products like woolen carpets, textiles, and hand-carved wood. Traditional Albanian Food: Gjirokastër is known for its delicious local cuisine. Don’t miss trying qifqi (rice balls with herbs), tavë kosi (lamb cooked with yogurt), or byrek (savoury pastry).

A great way to see the most important sights around Saranda in one day. The guide managed the schedule very well and never rushed us. Blue Eye was magical and exceeded our expectations.

Magical experience
The Blue Eye was absolutely magical, with its crystal-clear water and peaceful surroundings. Gjirokastra was a highlight with its unique stone architecture, rich history, and charming old town. Ending the day at Lekursi Castle with panoramic views over Saranda was the perfect way to finish the tour.

A worth visit
Well worth a visit. The roads up to (most hotels and castle) are fun to drive (if you like narrow, cobbled streets)! Castle is impressive and well preserved.
