Geopark from Granada in a small group
Description
Guadix is one of the oldest human settles in Spain. The most particular thing of this city is its wonderful cave-houses, still occupied nowadays and that is the most characteristic point of its neighbourhoods. This monumental city conserves an interesting historical and artistic heritage, its fotified towers from 11 th century, from where you can admire the lovely views of the meadow, the city and Sierra Nevada. Guadix offers the possibility to travel back in time to know different cultures and civilitations just walking along its narrow streets and its big monuments. The religious architecture is the protagonist in Guadix thanks to important buildings as the Cathedral and the churches of Saint Anna, Saint Domingo and Saint Francis. The Megalithic Park of Gorafe is an archeological site acondicionted for tours located in Gorafe town. It is one of the best examples of the Megalisthism in the South of the Iberian Peninsula because of the quantity of funerary monuments.

José was a fantastic guide and driver. The trip to Gaudix and the Geopark was great. It was nice to be out in nature and see the vistas on the fringes of the dessert as well as other views of the distant mountains. Jose was very flexible, allowing me ample time, more than what I expected. He was quick to discuss everything typical of Andalusia, from food to topography, to the climate, and culture. I highly recommend the trip if you want a break away from the city. The walking was minimal.

We had a great tour with Carlos. It was scheduled as a small group tour but turned into a private tour when no one else signed up. Lucky us! It's hard to describe all the areas we visited as they were unique and something we have never seen before. Anyhow, everything far exceeded our expectations and it was one of the highlights of our 3 week trip to southern Spain. Good weather was a bonus.

Had a great day out at the Geopark with our lovely guide Carlos. There were only 5 of us on the trip 2 Welsh and 3 Spanish and Carlos patiently translated everything for us. We were able to visit sites that would be missed had we not been with a guide and learned at lot on the day. We had spectacular views over the valleys and enjoyed Guadix with its quirky houses in the caves. Great day out
