Located at Ponta do Garajau, the Cristo Rei Viewpoint offers a unique perspective over this Natural Reserve. It owes its name to the majestic statue built on this site in 1927. The Cristo Rei Viewpoint owes its name to the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus built on this spot. It is an imposing sculpture of Jesus Christ, with open arms, facing the ocean.
The large valley that serves as a natural amphitheatre for Funchal, on one side, and the calm sea that bathes the south coast of Madeira, on the other: this is what you can see from the Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint. This observatory is at an altitude of 355 metres and is ideally positioned for visitors to enjoy peaceful views of Funchal's urban landscape, particularly its bay.
At an altitude of 1095 metres, the Eira do Serrado viewpoint offers an unobstructed view of the parish of Curral das Freiras, surrounded by the grandeur of Madeira's characteristic green mountains.
The Cabo Girão viewpoint, with its famous suspended glass platform - called skywalk - is currently one of the most visited tourist attractions of the archipelago. 580 metres high, Cabo Girão is the highest promontory in Europe. Entrance 3euros.
The municipality of Câmara de Lobos is home to a critical historical legacy. In addition to its monuments and stunning Atlantic landscapes, the municipality stands out for its centuries-old fishing tradition. This is were Winston Churchill painted his landscapes.

Excellent tour. Tailored to our interests. I would certainly recommend Diogo as a tour guide as he is also a longtime resident and therefore knows everything about the island. Excellent English helps. Book this tour and have a great time
Diogo was an amazing guide who was knowledgeable and friendly. He showed us many sites in Madeira in our day with him and we never felt rushed or short on time at any point in our day. Highly recommended !!!
We took a half-day tour with Diogo in April 2026 as a family group of five, ranging in age and including one member with mobility issues. From start to finish, Diogo was friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. His passion for Madeira was clear, and he answered all of our questions with great insight. What we particularly appreciated was learning about everyday life on the island, not just the tourist highlights. He also shared excellent recommendations on the best places to visit and the ideal times to go. The locations we visited were absolutely outstanding, and we never felt rushed or pressured. Diogo made sure everyone in our group was comfortable and able to enjoy the experience. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madeira and wanting a more personal, authentic insight into the island.
We did both half day tours, the east and west side of the islands - what a personal friendly and wonderful couple of days we had - it’s so thoughtful the days were swopped around to make the most of the weather conditions and we even squeezed in more activities as we had picnics rather than a restaurant lunch - everything revolved around what we wanted, I could not recommend the tours more, our family of six were happy, we did such a range of things - hiking, swimming, sightseeing, walking in swirling mist, seeing amazing views, jumping on glass floors overhanging the cliffs, it’s so good - book it. This was a comfortable tour highlighting some of the wonderful sites on Madeira. Our tour guide, Diogo, was very personable and knowledgeable about the island having grown up on the island. He was extremely patient at each of the sites to allow us all the time we wanted to view and explore. I would certainly recommend him to anyone wanting to enjoy a leisurely sightseeing experience with historical backdrop.
If you're considering a private tour in Madeira, I highly recommend Diogo! We spent two full days with him exploring both the west and east sides of the island, and after such a fantastic experience, we also booked him for our airport transfer at the end of our stay. From the start, Diogo's communication was excellent. He worked with us to create a customized itinerary based on what we wanted to experience. During our tours, it was clear how much thought and care he puts into every detail. He planned our days to maximize the sights while avoiding the busiest tourist crowds whenever possible. As he got to know us and our interests, he even added a few unplanned stops that he knew we would enjoy. Diogo has an exceptional sense for pacing his tours. He gave us all the time we wanted to enjoy each stop while thoughtfully structuring the day, so we experienced everything on our itinerary without ever feeling rushed. His vehicle was spotless and comfortable, and we always felt completely safe with him behind the wheel. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the island, sharing fascinating history, local culture, and insights that made every stop even more meaningful. We've already recommended Diogo to friends who are planning a trip to Madeira, and we will absolutely book him again if we return. Diogo is the perfect combination of friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Our time with him was the highlight of our trip!
Our driver/guide Ricardo took us around Funchal and showed us everything he recommended and also what we wanted to see: Botanical gardens, fishing village Camara de Lobos, sea cliff Cabo Girao, drove to Monte village where we took a thrilling toboggan ride ( local most popular tourist attraction), visiting the statue of Christ overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Ricardo made the day so much fun knowing all the ins and outs. We want to return and explore more.
We had a wonderful tour personalised for our group of four. Ricardo went out of his way to make our visit to the, island enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend Diego tours and will book with them for our future visits.
An excellent way to get a sense of Madeira beyond Funchal. Pre-tour communication was excellent and the cruise ship pick up super convenient. Diogo proved highly personable, informative and accommodating. We’ll definitely employ his services again when we next visit.
