Meteora is an amazing place. Our guide Eleni gave us great information for Meteora and places we passed by. The coach was very comfortable. The place they took us for lunch was expensive but had a nice view.

There are few landscapes that excite the travelers as much as a visit to the enchanting Meteora. The gigantic rocks with the breathtaking volume and height, as they sharply arise in the edge of a big flatland, interrupt the smooth landscape like they were unreal, form part of an impressive geological phenomenon that you can’t miss the chance to observe closely. Moreover, the human intervention in this eerie scenery is astonishing: Monasteries built in the highest point of the rocks, seem to hover between earth and sky, between human and divine element. In 1989, Meteora was added in the list of the World Heritage of UNESCO.
From the operator’s live schedule on Viator, checked Oct 8.
We reach Meteora at around 12:30p.m; this fascinating complex of huge steep rocks of pennant, arising close to the first elevations of the longest sierra in Greece, Pindos (the “spine” of Greece). We visit two of the six operating Holy Monasteries depending on the schedule of each one. During our visits to the monasteries we make a short stop to admire the stunning panoramic view of the Holy Monasteries from up high and capture the mystique of the landscape. The wild unapproachable area with the sandstones of more than 65 millions years old is majestic and at the same time unearthly and divine as until today their origin cannot be explained. Next, we enjoy our greek traditional lunch break in Kastraki, at Kalampaka area, against the view of the astonishing Meteora. We depart to Thessaloniki at around 15:30p.m and we have a last stop for 20΄ for coffee and rest. We are back at about 19:00p.m, making the same stops where we started from.

Meteora is an amazing place. Our guide Eleni gave us great information for Meteora and places we passed by. The coach was very comfortable. The place they took us for lunch was expensive but had a nice view.
This was one of the best day trips we've ever done. It was very well organised and I cannot recommend our guide CeeCee and our driver Michael enough. They were both very professional and friendly, with CeeCee providing us with plenty of useful information on the drive there and back and answering our questions and Michael navigating the roads with ease. Everything was very prompt, and although there was a lot of driving the breaks meant that you never felt like you'd been stuck on a bus all day. Meteora is a beautiful place so if you're in Thessaloniki it is well worth a visit with Ammon Express.
At Thessaloniki for a solo business trip right now and decided to choose this trip with a pretty decent amount of positive rating from many people. Well, i was not disappointed. The Mercedes tour bus is well equipped, working A/C, with schuko outlet (bring your phone charger with you), bottle of water on the house, calm driver. This day there were just too many tourists visited the places we have been at, but it really worth to see this at least once in a lifetime. The time plan is good, there were enough time for every stop to visit, take photos, enjoy the moment. The only negative i'd mention was the recommended, yet overhyped restaurant with overprices 'special' 'foods of the day' which is special because of its the way restaurant served it (cheese melting at the table with blowtorch) for an extra 7€ beyond the normal price. So for the example, a Mousaka 'Speciality' you should have paid 18€+7€. Still they gave the option in advance to you, so you could have eaten whereever you wished to. Thanks for our guide Sisi (perhaps written as Cece or CeeCee ? sorry for that) it become a great experience. Overall a very good greek experience, and a must see unesco site. 5* for Ammon Express.
Excellent guide Cici but the monasteries were crowded with tourists in small rooms. Views are great. Mountains were unique. .
Great tour well organized! Comfortable bus and very knowledgeable tour guide ( Sisi) and of corse amazing views of Meteora!
Fabulous trip to visit 2 of the 6 Meteora Monasteries , we went to Varlaam and St Stephen. Enough time given to visit both . Excellent guide C C who gave out a lot of useful information during the trip and was friendly. Comfortable full size coach with great music played low enough to be in the background . By prior arrangement with Ammon I left the trip at the meal stop on the return at Kastraki , stowing my 10kg bag in the hold, so I could spend a further two days exploring this unique and beautiful area ...if you have the time I highly recommend this...Ktel have a coach you can book online via Trikala to Thessaloniki that departs late afternoon for example .
Quite a long journey but worth it for the experience. The lunch stop is very traditional so not good for different diets.
Spiros (driver) and Elani (tour guide) were fantastic. Elani was happy to answer all our questions and was very informative. Highly recommend.
Superb excursion (long: 11 hours in total) but it is really worth it. It is very well organized. The guide Eva and our driver Lazare were very nice, welcoming. We visit 2 Monasteries but expect A LOT of people. The most beautiful part is from the outside, the landscapes, the famous rocks, the architecture of the Monasteries. Because inside you only have access to the interior of the church, packed with tourists and no photos allowed, and a small garden with terraces. The rest is closed. It is beautiful to see but even better from afar. Our guide Eva gave us lots of information about Thessaloniki and obviously the Monasteries. Very good restaurant also well located, right next to the rocks and excellent dishes (lamb), very nice staff and fast service as well. Very beautiful excursion to do
Well organised day trip to Meteora from Thessaloniki. Plenty of stops as it was a long day. Our guide was Eva and driver Ilias were fantastic. Meteora was amazing and the monasteries visited spiritual. The 16th century church frescoes and icons were magnificent though some depicted the martyrdom of the apostles and revelations.
