Full-Day Fishing and Boating Experience in Hydra

ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT - A MAGICAL DAY: We cannot recommend this highly enough! It was the absolute best day of our holiday. The food was superb, delicious and fresh, plenty fish plusplenty salad, home made dip and bread. Yiannis and Katerina were just the best hosts ever. They explained about the island, we watched Yiannis fishing, they explained about the different sorts of fish, and the changes to the sea bed in recent years. We had time to swim and relax in a secluded bay. It was simply the best. Also, as well as speaking English, Katerina speaks Spanish too.

Such a pleasure to spend the day with Captain Yiannis and Katrina on board the lovely Ioannis, a traditional wooden vessel. To witness Yiannis skilfully fishing was amazing. Yiannis obviously knows the quiet swimming spots and we enjoyed crystal clear waters whilst Yiannis and Katerina prepared a superb lunch which we enjoyed with the company of the other guests. Yiannis and Katrina are wonderful hosts. Highly recommend this trip, it was the highlight of our trip to Hydra.

We had a great day on the water with Yiannis. Captain Yiannis is a great fisherman, an awesome cook and a fun and engaging host. Eating grilled fish that we had seen pulled from the water only minutes before was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece.

This experience with Yiannis will be remembered as a highlight of our trip to Greece. Watching his skills, listening to his stories, and laughing together over a fresh fish lunch aboard his boat were delightful. The intense blue of the crystal clear waters was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling and swimming in a calm cove.

Had a great experience watching the beautiful island of Hydra along with Yiannis. Ate fresh fish and learned alot about how local fishermen work. Would absolutely recommend to everyone traveling in this island to check Yiannis and Katerina out!

We were in contact with Yannis' wife who explained everything and spoke very well fertiliser. Then Yannis got us back: a real ray of sun! We spent a sublime day, Yannis looked for sparsely populated coves for a top experience. We had a delicious meal, did not care (big up to Yaya's fresh bread!). Such an amazing way to spend a day while on Hydra - our group had a great time swimming, chatting, eating, and cruising, it’s all so enjoyable and relaxing with perfect hospitality!

When we got to Hydra on Sunday we only had one activity booked - during that activity we asked Harriet if she could recommend one other things for us to do while we were there, what would it be? She said go fishing with Yiannis. We immediately got in contact with him and they were able to get us on a trip out the following day. The other couple who booked on that trip were sick that day so it ended up being just myself and my partner. It was our last day in Hydra, and when we say we can not recommend this experience enough we mean it. Katerina and Yiannis were so welcoming and kind. Katerina told us all about the island as we navigated down the coast, pointing out interesting facts, old sailing myths, and telling us the history of the island. We learned about how she ended up on Hydra and about Yiannis's family going back generations in the island. We got to watch Yiannis use traditional Greek fishing techniques and we even caught an octopus! They brought us to a secluded beach and we were able to explore, snorkel, and hunt for sea glass. My wife must have found nearly a pound of it! After jumping off the boat in to the bluest water you could ever imagine and enjoying the playlist curated by DJ Yiannis, we worked up quite the appetite. Now we had many incredible meals during our two weeks but this was hands down the best food we ate. Simple, clean, impeccable prepared fish, octopus, salad, bread. The Fava, we are going to come back to see them just for his fava and yiayia's bread. We shared many laughs and had the best day we could have hoped for. When we hoped off the boat it truly felt like we were leaving two new friends. Please do yourself a favor and experience this for yourself.

This was a wonderful experience. We watched him pull in all kinds of fish as his son explained.my daughter was thrilled to captain the boat for a while and while we swam and enjoyed the water he made us the most amazing fresh meal.
