Full Day Excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier

A great day trip to this stunning glacier. The trip was well organised and the tour guide was knowledgable and friendly. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. Although we hadn't prebooked the boat trip to see the glacier wall at close (though safe) quarters, we were able to buy a ticket when we got there. We were very glad we did as it was one of the highlights of the day. The colours and shapes of the glacier were amazing and could be viewed from several lookouts on the boardwalk type paths directly opposite the glacier. overall, this is a trip not to be missed!

Booked through Viator which I was skeptical of. The communication was lacking but the trip and GPS tours were great. Picked up at the hotel and Alejandra was very knowledgeable in both English and Spanish. Gave us a lot of information about everything you can imagine. Sebastian and Alejandra kept on us a schedule and explained everything to us for each stop.

The Moreno Expert is simply majestic and the GPS team made our experience 15 out of 10....The super comfortable transport, the talk on the way very interesting and complete, the clear directions and the friendliness of Carlos (our Guide) and Mauricio (our driver) unbeatable!!! Excellent tour. Our guide was superb and the sights were amazing. We didn’t bother with the boat trip as we wanted to spend as long as possible on the balcony walk. I think this was a good choice. The walkway is very cleverly worked out and we easily completed the entire route. A very memorable day!

The trip was booked for 12.30 but we were not collected from our hostel until 12:45 then spent another 15 mins driving around picking up others. So we didnt leave El Calafate until after 1pm. We were told the guide would provide interesting information on the way to the glacier but her poor quality sound system (coupled with a strong accent when speaking English) meant that we found it hard to understand her. She persisted in using the microphone even though she could have spoken directly to us as I think we were the only non Spanish couple on board. We were persuaded to add the hour-long boat trip to the visit, but it wasn’t worth it as the boardwalks give you excellent views. Doing the boat trip meant we only had 1.5hrs to walk around exploring the different views of the glacier on foot. We were asked if we minded being dropped in the centre of town instead of at our accomodation and we said that was okay, assuming she meant near our turnoff, but it was way down the other end of town at least a kilometre away from our hostel. I would not recommend this tour company. I do recommend visiting the glacier - it was spectacular. But don’t bother with the boat trip.
