Syntagma Square, named after the Greek word for "constitution," is not only the location of the Hellenic Parliament but also a hub of significant monuments. It's a place where visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the modern Greek Republic and its political evolution. One of the most captivating events at Syntagma Square is the Changing of the Guard in front of the Hellenic Parliament. This event showcases the Evzones, the Hellenic Army's prestigious unit also serving as the presidential guard. They don the traditional foustanella (kilts), tsarouchia (pompom-adorned shoes), and phareon (caps). Their routine, both meticulous and ceremonial, takes place every hour. It's a slow-motion performance that pays homage to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, drawing tourists and serving as a potent emblem of Greece's national heritage and enduring pride.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus was dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and was intended to be the greatest temple in the ancient world. It served as a symbol of the power and wealth of Athens and was a focal point for religious and civic ceremonies.
The Pnyx Hill, renowned for its stunning views perfect for photographing the Acropolis, has a rich history. Dating back to as early as 507 BC, this hill was a central location for popular assemblies in Athens, particularly after the reforms of Cleisthenes which empowered the citizenry. Situated just outside the city's borders yet within convenient reach, the Pnyx overlooks the ancient Agora, once the bustling hub of commerce and social interaction in Athens.
Visit one of the top 5 premier museums globally, the Acropolis Museum. This remarkable establishment showcases a vast array of Acropolis artifacts, from sculptures and friezes to relics that trace back to the Greek Bronze Age and extend through Roman and Byzantine eras. Experience the unique glass floors that reveal the archaeological dig beneath, and marvel at the top floor's perfect alignment with the Parthenon, merging the museum's ambiance with the celebrated ancient ruins. The Acropolis Museum is more than a historical repository; it's a harmonious fusion of antiquity and modernity, offering an enlightening and engaging exploration of Greece's illustrious heritage.
Explore Plaka, nestled at the foot of the Acropolis. This charming area is renowned for its neoclassical architecture, quaint shops, cozy cafes, and inviting restaurants, drawing both tourists and locals alike. Wander through its narrow, maze-like streets, surrounded by vibrant buildings, and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere, accentuated by live music and the enticing aroma of Greek cuisine. Plaka is a testament to Athens' old-world allure, providing a scenic window into the city's deep historical and cultural heritage.

We all are fully satisfied with each and everything, from pick up to drop off these guys provided their best. So if you guys are looking for a cool trip I'm definitely going recommend.
We spent a full day in Athens, and it was awesome. Visited the temple of Zeus and had some snacks nearby, which were pretty good. The Acropolis of Athens was the highlight, and we also checked out a few other spots in the city.
Visiting athens was a dream come true, the birthplace of democracy and western civilization. This comprehensive tour provides us lot of value.
As we stepped off my cruise ship at Piraeus port, I couldn't wait to explore Athens, the cradle of western civilization. At 75, I was a bit apprehensive about navigating the city, but my fears were quickly assuaged. Special thanks to Sophia
We had an amazing time on the Athens tour! Our guide, Anna Maria, was very knowledgeable, engaging, and super friendly. She had that lovely Greek charisma! We visited a marble stadium (the name is too hard to pronounce or remember), took amazing pictures of the Acropolis with stunning views of Athens from a hill, and loved the Acropolis Museum. We also enjoyed a nice lunch during our free time, just a few minutes' walk from the Acropolis. The tour was well-organized and well -paced , really brought Athens' charm to life. Highly recommend!
The tour is not worth the cost. You will get the same tour taking a taxi to the acropolis museum and touring on your own. This doesn't include the admission or guide to the acropolis. You can do that completely on your own. The main tour picture of the stadium of Dionysus is not part of the tour at all. We didn't stop at the Olympic Stadium or anywhere else. We just drove by that and the presidential palace. Then we were given about 2 hours to shop in the Plaka, which is an area right next to the acropolis museum. All this could have been done for 1/10 what we paid. The tour guide was pleasant, but for what we paid, our expectations were significantly higher.
We regret to hear about your disappointment and would like to address your concerns: 1. Private vs Shared Tours: Your disappointment may stem from your expectation of a private tour, according to your comments on meeting our guide in the cruise terminal. We highly recommend reviewing the tour description. As well private tours are usually labeled with "PRIVATE" in the title and are generally priced significantly higher than €150. 2. Tour Cost: Tastes differ, and some may prefer taxis. However, taking a taxi for the same tour route with all stops and the same duration would likely cost the same or more. 3. Guided tour vs. Taxi: Taxi services do not provide the wealth of information offered by our guides. Your guide Anna Maria, is not only fully licensed with 17 years of experience but also ranked among the top 10 guides in Athens. 4. Acropolis Museum: Cab drivers do not provide skip-the-line admission to the Acropolis Museum or Parthenon. On busy days with multiple cruise ships, you could spend couple hours in line. 5. Stadiums : The modern Olympic stadium has never been part of our tour itinerary, it’s Panathenaic Stadium that was visited en route to the city center from the cruise port where we picked up air visitors and your guide assisted with coins for restroom visits, sorry restrooms in Europe have admission fees, unlike in the US. As for Dionysos Stadium, it is not included in our tour itinerary, please pay some more attention to this tour itinerary 6. Acropolis Options: This tour offers two distinct options: one includes the Acropolis Museum with views of the Parthenon from Pnyx Hill, while the other includes both the Acropolis Parthenon and Museum. You selected the first, more economical option, which covers only the museum. 7. Tour Experience: Compared to others on ship shore excursions, you saw at least twice more of Athens. Our tour is designed based on 24 years of experience and feedback from thousands of guests. For future travels, rather than relying on pictures and your imagination, we highly recommend reviewing the tour itinerary and description to set accurate expectations .Safe travels!
After seeing how big Athens is, we were certainly glad we had booked a tour. We started out at the 1896 Olympic Stadium. Our guide pointed out many other sights. We loved the Acropolis museum. (Note, this tour does not include a trip to the top of the Acropolis. We were perfectly fine with that because it was so hot.) the Changing of the Guard was unlike anything we have ever seen and enjoyed. The time in Plaka allowed us to have a wonderful lunch and pick up some souvenirs
So disappointed! You save to go to your once in a lifetime trip and get a terrible tour. From the beginning, the tour guide said we were late and had to rush. We missed seeing several of the sights because she said we didn’t have time. She was knowledgeable but often talked about unimportant info. We spent a small amount of time in the Museum because she didn’t enter in the correct place and we waited in line outside (no skip the line) and then she argued with the employees of the museum. We were a small group of 18 but slowly people began to leave to do their own sightseeing. Very disappointed and surprised Viator has her as a guide.
We regret to hear about your disappointment, but let me address all the concerns raised: 1. The tour could have easily left without you since your couple was 17 minutes late, but because you asked us to wait and the other tour participants agreed, we postponed the departure. 2. This caused some rush, as during high season when Athens gets about 15 million guests, we have to follow a strict time frame for entering the Acropolis Museum. 3. If by "unimportant info" you mean the information about daily life in Athens shared by your knowledgeable guide, please be aware that on major shared tours, guides have to cover all categories of guests—those who find historical information boring and those who consider all other information unimportant. 4. According to the museum records, your small group spent 67 minutes inside, which is 7 minutes longer than mentioned in the tour description. 5. We apologize for the incident entering the museum. Your guide attempted to save time and effort by using the special entrance but failed since we arrived later than the appointed time due to the mentioned delay. 6. Your group spent only 13 minutes in the main line because our other group let yours join them in entering. By Athens standards, you can consider this a "skip-the-line" admission. 7. When you see locals arguing, do not think they are going to fight. It's a different culture—not only in Greece but all over the Mediterranean. People are very passionate, speak loudly, and use a lot of gestures. 8. We recommend you pay more attention to the tour description, which states that 2 hours of free time in Plaka is given after the guided part of the tour. When you saw people leaving, they were leaving for their leisure time, and that’s why all 18 of you were collected and brought back to the port. 9. Lastly, all the sights mentioned in the tour description were covered. Those missed on the way to the center due to the delay were explored on the way back, and your tour time was extended by one hour. Honestly, given all the efforts our staff invested, we expected more than 2 stars for your experience. Next time, we will think twice before waiting for late tour attendants. Safe travels!
Your started more than an hour earlier than advertised. The app and website said 9:30 but the tour took off early without us. Unprofessional.
We regret to inform you that your party was the only one missing from the 172 cruise passengers collected from NCL Epic yesterday. Let me briefly address the concerns raised: 1. Our last minibus left the terminal at 9:24 AM. You could have successfully joined it if you had paid attention to the pickup instructions provided to your email and phone 48 hours before the tour start time. 2. You could have taken some amazing pictures of the capital and heart of Greece if you had paid attention to the tour description's Additional Info section, which states: “The time listed on this website or your ticket reflects the activity's approximate start time, not your specific pick-up time.” 3. You could have shared this bestselling tour with your fellow cruisers if you had paid attention to the tour description's Meeting and Pickup section, which clearly states in capital letters: :” THE PICKUP TIME STATED IN YOUR BOOKING CONFIRMATION IS APPROXIMATE AND MAY BE ADJUSTED. The precise meeting time will be communicated to you via a subsequent email and message. We recommend checking your email at least 12 hours before your scheduled activity to receive comprehensive pickup information, which will include the exact location and the precise pick-up time” 4. You could have had more pleasant memories of your visit to the one of the top 10 world travel destinations if you had simply kept your phone in service to successfully receive one of our numerous attempts to contact you yesterday morning. 5. We kindly disagree with your rating of us as an unprofessional company. If we were unprofessional, we would hardly have spent 24 years in this industry, serving 20-25K cruise passengers per year. Finally, let us offer you one piece of advice: if you make a mistake, do not try to blame others for your own fault. It is better to learn from your mistakes. This will help improve your travels and life in general. Safe travels!
Excellent! Friendly and helpful staff right from the booking stage, ready to answer any questions. We spent a wonderful day with Paris, who in 6 hours managed to get us into the heart of the city through visits to the main attractions and lots of historical and cultural information that made the visit even more interesting and convinced me to return to Athens to stay for several days and explore it calmly. Thank you for your welcome!❤️
