Recommend even if weather is off
We went with friends, and the only thing that was not optimal was the weather. Thw driver was nice and careful, the guide Minako and her assistant Mina were very helpful and the tour itself is pretty informative. Temple entrancw fee was included. We went with a small group, so we didn't have trouble with going from ine point to the next.
The weather was rainy and cloudy to an extreme: we rode into a cloud that settled over the mountain, so nor the banks of the Lake nor the Falls were visible, but it was very atmospheric still, mystical even.
Recommend.

Its a brilliant trip but...
Its a brilliant trip but seriously, you only have an hour and you need 2-4. 2 minimum
We could have been given option to skip lunch in order to see more. The guide was great, informative, the destination brilliant.

Nikko Day tour with Mai
A wonderful day tour to Nikko! Mai, or tour guide provided fantastic information about all the sights and also gave us a Japanese history lesson on the bus - really enjoyable! 2nd time after 15 years
We returned to Nikko after 15 years and it has grown. The natural aspects are still ( in my opinion) it's biggest attractions. The forest and watercourses have a serenity that compliments the temples and shrines. The variety of restaurants and cafes should satisfy most people and the quirky shops selling second hand clothing or souvenirs can be found strung alone the main road. The locals are friendly and willingly help with directions.

Unprofessional tour guide...
Unprofessional tour guide who totally skipped the inner shrine when itinerary lists it as the most important part of the tour.

Because an unpredictable highway accident delayed the tour by nearly three hours, our guide had to compress the sightseeing timeline to ensure the group could still safely visit all scheduled regions, including Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls, while respecting strict local transport safety laws. To maximize the remaining time, the guide prioritized the core architectural highlights of the Toshogu Shrine complex.

Rain dampened the experience
Good itinerary to Nikko shrines, Keogon Falls, and Lake Chuzenji. Rain didn't allow us to see the beauty of the lake, but the rain and fog broke enough to see the magnificent Falls. Harry the guide was ok, but should have given the group more explicit instructions on where to use the milti-part entry ticket to the shrine area in Nikko Toshugo; most of the group missed seeing the dragon painted on the ceiling. The Japanese lunch was also an interesting experience, but may not be for everyone.
