Along the way, get ready to be amazed by the unique plants and wildlife found only here in the Northern Territory. Sit back, relax, and soak in the stunning scenery while your expert guide shares captivating stories about the area’s rich history and culture.
This magical gorge is cared for by the Jawoyn people, the traditional custodians whose deep spiritual bond with the land will bring the landscape to life in ways you’ll never forget.
The highlight? The spectacular NitNit Dreaming boat cruise through the iconic Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk). For nature lovers and thrill seekers alike, this two-hour cruise is a must! Drift through a dramatic canyon framed by towering cliffs soaring 70 meters high, bathed in ever-changing hues as sunlight dances on the rock faces.
Quick stop to checkout the visitor centre and and use the restrooms, before we head out to Edith Falls for a swim. *Please note: Depending on boat availability, the tour itinerary may visit Edith Falls before the Katherine Gorge Cruise.
Next up is a visit to the tranquil Edith Falls (Leliyn), tucked away in the heart of the park. Depending on the timing, we’ll visit Edith Falls either before or after the boat cruise. Dive into the refreshing natural plunge pool for a cool, invigorating swim, or simply unwind by the water’s edge and let the peaceful vibes wash over you.
After recharging at Edith Falls, we’ll head back toward Darwin, retracing our route through Pine Creek or Adelaide River. Reflect on the day’s incredible sights and stories as you journey home, carrying with you the unforgettable spirit of Nitmiluk National Park — a place where wild beauty and rich culture come together in perfect harmony.
As we roll back to your pick-up point, sit back, relax, and relive the magic of the day—full of epic sights, laughs, and unforgettable moments. What an adventure! Very long day hours of traveling what we saw was impressive but very limited time better to book at least 2 days to see a lot more
Thank you for your feedback. It's great to hear that you found the sights impressive, despite the long travel hours. Your suggestion to book at least two days to explore more thoroughly is very helpful for future travelers who want a more in-depth experience. We appreciate your honesty and hope to offer options that better suit different preferences. Thank you for sharing!
Ozzie Tim the tour guide drove very well all day making you feel safe, Tim’s knowledge of the top end, aborigine culture, fawn and flora was extensive the Katherine Gorge was breathtaking travelling along the river in the boat was serine. Thank you Viator and Autopia.

An excellent trip, with stops and plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Katherine Gorge and the river cruise well worth the trip. Driver on time to pick us up and drop-off. A long day, but worth it all.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted you enjoyed Katherine Gorge, Edith Falls, and the cruise. It’s great to hear everything ran smoothly and that the long day was well worth it. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!
This is a very long day but worth it to see Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge. We enjoyed the walk up To the upper pool at Edith Falls and it was easy access to swim in the lower pool if you wanted a longer swim. The boat trip at Katherine Gorge was a highlight with spectacular scenery and a great insight into the history and indigenous culture. We stopped at the roadhouse in Adelaide River and in Pine Creek but the guide didn’t tell us how long the stops would be which wasted time. There was very limited food options with only the roadhouse for coffee and to pick up lunch - it didn’t have much choice. It would have been good to stop in Katherine to see the town and maybe have more food options.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback! We're glad to hear that visiting Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge was worth the long day, and that you enjoyed the walk and swim at Edith Falls as well as the boat trip with its spectacular scenery and cultural insights. We appreciate your honesty regarding the stops at Adelaide River and Pine Creek, and the lack of information about stop durations. Your suggestion to include a stop in Katherine for more exploration and food options is very helpful. We'll take this into consideration to improve future tours. Thanks again for your input, and we hope to provide an even better experience next time!
The wealth of local knowledge from the tour guide/driver was fascinating and entertaining and very well presented. The natural beauty of Nitmiluk is awesome. Recommend taking a dip at Leliyn, goggles a must to spot the different underwater wildlife.

This tour is definitely well worth doing. It is a long day but the beautiful Edith falls and the Katherine Gorge make it worth while. Our driver and tour guide Boggie made our day interesting and informative.

It is a long day. (14 hours) Be prepared for up to 8 hrs driving. But worth it! Our driver/guide Tom was informative, tireless, great sense of humour and really made the day entertaining instead of gruelling. Edith falls walk is 2km of track (return) with last 100m rock scramble. Stumble watch for those with limited agility!
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like it was a long day, lasting about 14 hours, with up to 8 hours of driving, so being prepared is important. However, you mentioned it was definitely worth it! We're glad to hear that Tom, your driver and guide, was so informative, tireless, and had a great sense of humor, making the day both entertaining and enjoyable rather than gruelling. The Edith Falls walk, with its 2 km track and last 100 meters of rock scramble, sounds like an adventure-stumble watch for those with limited agility is a helpful tip! Overall, it seems like a memorable and rewarding experience.
Tour guide shared the local history, environment, and culture, really enjoyed. Katherine Gorge cruise is fantastic.
