The trip was great, rain the night before resulted in more class 3 areas. The guide was good, lots of great info on the area, jokes "canned", but they aren't paid to be a comedian! Well organized operation. We showed up after making reservations through Viator and the location had no info we were showing up despite me having a ticket, but they were prepared and we ended up having a two person raft. May want to call to make sure Viator's system actually sent your reservation to them.
I had an absolutely amazing first‑time rafting experience with this company! I don’t even know how to swim, and I still felt completely safe, comfortable, and able to enjoy every moment. Honestly, when I saw the cloudy sky and felt the light rain, I thought the trip was going to be dreary — but it turned out to be perfect. The mist hanging over the mountains made everything look peaceful and beautiful, and the cool weather made the ride even better. The whole trip was super beginner‑friendly. You don’t have to paddle the entire time, so there’s plenty of opportunity to relax and take in the scenery. And when we did paddle through some of the rapids, it was so much fun — splashy, exciting, and full of laughs. Our guide kept things simple, safe, and enjoyable from start to finish. Between the gorgeous misty views, the fun rapids, and the easy pace, I couldn’t have asked for a better first rafting adventure. Highly recommend this company!
Really well run with highly trained guides. We felt like we were contributing to the activity, but very much the guides had it under control. Blast! We always felt safe as well. Yeah the guides were professional and very friendly. I did this with my 11-year-old son and both of us had a great day.
GREAT EXPERIENCE! Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Get ready to get wet. We did half day and we had fun
We had a great experience white water rafting on the French Board. All of the guides were great - very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. We enjoyed meeting the outpost manager, Johnny, who was awesome to talk with and took time to answer all the questions we had. Our river guide, Thomas, was fantastic. He made the first time experience for my teens so much fun and now they’re hooked and can’t wait to try some more challenging rapids!
We had a great time on this family friendly white water rafting trip. Our guide, Elizabeth was amazing. The other staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend NOC.
This trip only covers Class 2 and 3 rapids, which aren’t the most exciting, though we still enjoyed ourselves. It wasn’t too strenuous of an activity either- there was an older couple in our boat who did just fine.
Fantastic day, we are so glad we went. Did the full-day trip on the French Broad. The NOC facilities and staff are the best. If you want to do whitewater rafting in this region, NOC is absolutely the gold standard. I want to especially shout out our fearless river guide, Sophie. She's the best and was a big part in making this such a memorable trip. Thank-you, Sophie and NOC French Broad Outpost team!
I never really leave reviews, but just wanted to say that it was such a great time! Shoutout to our guide Sophie, she was fun, encouraging, and a great leader. Had great weather conditions and randomly got paired with excellent people in our raft, so all the elements were great. It was just as fun as I was hoping it would be and I don’t say that often. Just do it. :)
Emma, we loved you! Lots of fun, knowledge and encouragement through the trip! Thanks for keeping our experience down to earth!
