Chinese Fishing Nets
Admission included20 min
Chinese fishing nets(Cheena vala)are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as Chinese fishing nets in India, the more formal name for such nets is shore operated lift nets. Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20m or more across. Each structure is at least 10m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end which is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of city name Kochi is ‘co-chin', meaning like China

He’s a fount of information and just a lovely, smilie man who goes the extra mile to make sure your tour is exactly what you are looking for. Great experience
Great tuk-tuk ride and great service! Shaheer took me around Fort Kochi and shared lots of interesting information about the sights, while also answering all my questions. He can tailor the tour to your needs, so it’s a good idea to let him know whether you’d like to visit local shops, try a snack and chai at a local café (which I did!), or see how local families run their businesses. We got to the beach just in time for sunset and then went back to the hotel (the return ride was included), with Bollywood music playing loudly on the speaker. :-) I can definitely recommend Shaheer’s service!

A Fun and Interesting Day Out in Fort Kochi
We had a great experience going on a tour with Shaheer in Fort Kochi! He took us to interesting places we never would have known about otherwise. He knew many local people around the city, so we got to meet them throughout the tour, which made it all the more special. He also shared interesting things with us about each place we visited and answered our questions. His tour was a great way to see the city! We had fabulous time and sweet memories in Fort Kochi because of this gentleman
Shaheer gave us the most fabulous experience in Fort Kochi. My wife and I love Indian food and the gentleman brought us to local joints which not only serve the most delicious Indian food we ever had but also clean and hygienic. We ate like locals and yet left India unscathed. Shaheer's day tour was as amazing, he is very knowledgeable about the history, culture and all things Fort Kochi.

Best way to see Kochin - by private TukTuk!
Our lovely, friendly TukTuk driver just happened to be outside our hotel (Fragrant Nature Hotel) when we decided to get a TukTuk to Fort Kochi for a stroll around there.
He explained that he could happily take us there, and also showed us his brochure of all the places he could take us to, for a few hours. It would have been pretty exhausting for us to have attempted finding and visiting all of the places on our own, so we thought we would give his tour a go!
We would certainly recommend his tour, we stopped at the places we chose to see (you can pick and mix) .
It was such fun, interesting and informative. We visited temples, churches, synagogues, markets, bazaars, museums and a few other places, all within about 3 hours. That’s as much sightseeing we can handle in a single day, so we decided to head back to the hotel. Our driver dropped us right back to our hotel.
It was excellent value for money!

We try to tell as many stories and histories about it as possible to those who come here... We will also try to describe the histories that existed in the past.🛺🛺🛺We are very happy that people like you are happy with it. .see you again 🛺🛺🛺🛺🛺
