Description
We stop at a very moving German Cemetery, from where we drive to a section of the WW1 trenches. We will then visit the Monument of the Brooding Soldier.
After a short lunchbreak we leave for Flanders Fields which was one of the major battlegrounds in the First World War. Our expert guide will help you throughout the visit to understand the events that led to the first world war and how the catastrophe developed. We take you to Passchendaele battlefield and the Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world where British, Australian and Canadian soldiers lie at rest. You visit the Monument of the ‘Brooding Soldier’ and Essex Farm.
At 8 pm you attend the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate (under restoration works until mid-2025), a daily tribute to all Commonwealth soldiers and officers that were missing after battle.

The guide, Diedrick...
The guide, Diedrick (sp?), had an encyclopedic knowledge of the battles and military life in Flamders during The Great War. We visited battlefields, monuments, and cemeteries as he recounted the history and pointed out relevant topography. The Flanders Museum in Ypres was excellent, and we found excellent restaurants for lunch and supper in Ypres.

Excellent Flanders Fields Excursion
This tour was an excellent way to see the Flanders Fields area. Johan was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and presented the information in an engaging way. The itinerary included enough to time to explore Ypres a bit, and there was sufficient time to take photos at every site. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a day trip to Flanders Fields.

War Memorials Emotionally Charged Tour
Very good tour well worth the money. Tour guide very knowledgeable bus driver not very friendly. The last post ceremony at the end of the tour makes the tour worth every penny.
I have mobility issues so at times stayed on the bus, tried making small talk and asking driver for information like if he could drop us at the traffic light by the train station upon our return to Brugge he never answered just ignored me. We asked our tour guide to be dropped off at train station traffic light so we could access a cab easier. After a heated french conversation exchange between the bus driver and the tour guide, the bus dropped us off on the opposite side away from taxi stand and Brugge tour bus stand. They both knew that I speak French. I felt that last exchange to be rude and unprofessional and it cost them each a 20 euros tip.

A great tour
We had a really knowledgeable guide, and learnt so much. The whole tour was great from start to finish. At the Menin Gate there was also a piper band from an Airdree regiment playing, which made the last post ceremony even more moving. A long day but well worth it

Guide was excellent....
Guide was excellent. Would have liked more time at the museum and less time at other sites. Would have preferred to go into the town only one time to end the tour.

Excellent historical trip
Stephen was a knowledgeable tour guide. He has thorough interest in educating people on the tour about the wars. It was a full day of visiting key sites providing plenty of opportunity to learn, ask questions. Easy to find tour meeting point.

Informative Day
The tour was interesting and informative. My wife and I joined from Bruges. Meeting the group was easy and the bus was very comfortable. It was a long day, though. I think we would have preferred one less cemetery or two and shave some time off the trip. Maybe it could be just an afternoon…omit the lunch break. I think you have to have the dinner break if you are going to include the 8:00 pm Last Post Ceremony in Ypres. I also don’t think we spent nearly enough time in the Flanders Fields Museum. We only had an hour. A simple solution would be to give out the tickets/bracelet fobs before the lunch break (assuming that remains part of the trip). That way guests can determine for themselves how to prioritize their time over the two hours reserved for lunch and the museum. Overall, we enjoyed the tour…but doing it again, we’d look for a shorter option.

A Day to Remember
It was very interesting and informative. My friends and I were able to understand the historical events leading up to WW1 and see the impact , which was humbling.
On another note, The tour was advertised as a max of 20 people but we had 27 and it was difficult to hear all the information and had to frequently compare notes with each other. 27 was too large a group for this reason. The tour bus was comfortable.
