We missed the boat, it left the dock just as we arrived, we shouted and waved but didn’t come back. There was also a family of 5 left on dock. There meeting point was not clear Andover 20 min fast walk away, but was described as 10 min walk.
Hi Diane, we can understand your frustration in arriving late and not being in time for the scheduled departure. Much like train and airline departures, scheduled boat departure times need to be met. All our tickets describe the boarding time, which is 15 minutes before departures. This is so guests can plan and get there on-time without stress. Our departure location and recommended walk time is accurate as seen on google maps, with 10 minute walk time from the centre of Alesund.
Wonderful experience and a beautiful boat! Definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our fjord cruise from Alesund to Geiringer and back. It was different than a normal Viator small group event. This was a traditional ferry but Kato (sp ?) was on the top deck providing information on the fjord, farms and waterfalls as they passed by. The 7 Sisters waterfalls were subdued as they had a dry summer (July). Although different than a normal Viator small group I would recommend, not only for Kato's commentary but for the beautiful small town of Geiringer. It had a spectacular and roaring waterfall itself.
Kato - Guide was amazing!! He made the trip!!!! Beautiful day! 10 Outta 10
Fantastic trip. Would highly recommend it. Commentary during the trip was very informative. Plenty of room to move around. Took some spectacular photos. The crew were very accommodating. Time at Geiranger was just right. I like how the cruise line takes another group of people on a short cruise while we were looking around Geiranger. Definitely walk the Waterfall Trail, Great views of the stream/waterfalls and looking down on Geiranger. Thanks for a great experience.
Very nice ship. Very clean. The staff was kind. The views were as expected and promised. Suggest pre-ordering a tour at Gereinger.
Very noisy boat even though hybrid and new. Travelled so fast until the Geiranger Fjord that it was uncomfortable on deck. Much preferred the electric fjord cruise to Flam.
Thank you for your feedback. As we need to cover a considerable distance, we have to travel at higher speed at the beginning of the journey. Once we enter the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, we slow down and switch to battery power, allowing for a quiet and more environmentally friendly experience. If you prefer a fully slow and silent electric cruise, we also offer fjord cruises that start and end in Geiranger, similar to the cruises available in Flåm. These 2-hour cruises take place entirely within the Geirangerfjord, meaning you can enjoy two full hours of peaceful, silent electric sailing surrounded by the spectacular fjord scenery. We hope to welcome you on board again in the future.
Due to change we were disappointed but all turned out well. Loved the visitas from above which we would not happen if only on boat.
Beautiful, highly recommend!
The port was easy to find in Alesund. This was a scenic trip to Geiranger from Alesund. There are many waterfalls to see. It took 3 hrs by boat each way. There was an app for the audio tour you can listen to on the way. You will need headphones to listen to your phone or device. There are refreshments on the boat. The crew does not give you any information about the trip or what is in Geiranger. You have to make sure you know where they are dropping off and picking you up, is it the same port? They move the boat which can be confusing. You can sit inside and up on the top deck outside. There is shopping, eating, hiking, biking and Zipline. Plenty to do. Good ice cream right where the boat picks you up.
