More of an extended shopping trip with some sights and walk in medina

We walked around the medina a lot but pretty much everywhere we went was a place to buy stuff obviously the tour or guide gets a cut otherwise I don’t see why, the tanning place especially they were very pushy to buy something and followed you around the whole time

Operator response

We appreciate your feedback regarding your private tour. The artisans, workshops, and tanneries are the very fabric of Fez's living history, which is why they are a central part of our cultural itineraries. The old medina is a vibrant, bustling marketplace where merchants are known to be quite persistent with visitors; we find that a firm, polite 'no' is the best way to browse comfortably. Our goal is to provide an authentic look into these ancient crafts, and we will continue to work closely with our guides to ensure the focus remains on the cultural and historical aspects of the journey.

An intellectually stimulating tour

Mohcine was our guide for the day and we really enjoyed our time with him. As a former teacher, he had an excellent way of conveying information and making sure we understood it. But beyond the basics, we had some engaging and philosophical conversations, especially related to comparative religions. Mohcine seemed to be well known by others as evidenced by the number of people who came up to say hello to him and show us what they were doing at his request. He took us to a number of shops in the souk and, if there was any criticism, we probably spent too much time shopping and not enough time seeing the rest of the city (we only had time to do a drive by of the 14th Century Medina and Jewish Quarter). Having said that, we would gladly use Mohcine's services again.

Operator response

Thank you for this wonderful and insightful review! It is a pleasure to hear that Mohcine's engaging teaching style and meaningful conversations made your day in Fes so memorable. We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the time distribution between the cooperative shops and the city highlights; this helps us continuously tailor our private tours to our guests' preferences. We are so glad that, overall, you had an excellent experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another tour anytime!

Ideal for a one day trip to Fes

This was an excellent tour, ideal for a one day trip to Fes. We covered not only the ancient medina, with the mosques, madrasas, and the tannery, but also the separate medieval town, with the old Jewish Quarter. The guide was a native of the medina and was knowledgeable and informative. A busy day with lot of walking but well worth it

Operator response

It’s great to know that your guide’s knowledge enhanced the experience. We hope to welcome you again for another memorable adventure in Morocco!

Choose another tour to avoid tourist traps

We bought the full day private tour, guide arrived on time and we started. He walked at a nice slow pace was a good thing. The tour was a tourist trap. The guide took us to the Medina and started by showing us the market, then he took us to a fabric shop. We told him we did not want to go shopping but wanted to see the streets and so on but he insisted in taking us to hidden shop after shop. After 2 hours he said the tour was finish, when I said we payed a full day he then called the driver to take us to a few other places. We were 2 females and he constantly asked why we were not married. He was clearly puzzled by 2 women traveling without a man. I would not recommend this tour.

A Guide is a MUST to really see Fes

WOW! So much to see in Fes...everything from the old medina to the 'new city'. The passage ways are narrow and twisty. It was great to have a guide that gave a broad overview of the city and then details of the many nooks and crannies that we would have never found on our own. Larbi was a great guide with a lot of knowledge about the city, its history, current events and traditional artisan ways.

Amazing experience in Fez

I had a wonderful experience from this tour that my guide Hakim who took me to different spots and explained to me each of its origin and history in details. We passed through different streets in the Medina and it’s just like a huge maze with more than 18000 shops inside. Really impressive heritage.
