The whole experience was great! Landis was a terrific guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful sights and lots of laughs! Terry was wonderful as well, taking our pictures and then sharing them with us. He drove us safely to each drop off location and is very knowledgeable about the area as well. Would highly recommend this team!
It was a fun experience. Samuel was our guide. He provided a lot of history of the area. We saw bald eagles, blue herons, and deer. I would definitely recommend
We went as a scout group and had an exceptional experience. They were very friendly and accommodating!
Trip was most enjoyable, guide was terrific as was the bus driver. Even though the weather did not always accommodate the trip was most enjoyable.
Thank you for the wonderful review, Lynda! We're so glad you and your family had such an enjoyable day on the river. Sometimes Mother Nature decides to add a little adventure of her own, but we're happy the weather didn't keep your group from having a great time! We'll be sure to share your compliments with your guide and driver. It takes the whole crew to make a great river day happen, from the bus ride to the rapids and everything in between. Thank you for choosing West Virginia Adventures for your family adventure. We hope to see you back—maybe with a little more sunshine next time! ~ Crystal
Wilsen was our guide, and he did an excellent job. He was interested in his clients, knowledgeable about the area, and enthusiastic about his job. We got a little wet, but the whole experience was a lot of fun. I was never scared we would turn over! Scenery was gorgeous. It was a very enjoyable experience!! Highly recommend for those who aren’t quite ready for full-on whitewater rafting. It was a nice compromise!!
Thank you for the wonderful review, Amy! You described exactly why we love our Family Rafting trips. You get beautiful scenery, enough splashes and rapids to make it an adventure, but it's also a great option for guests who aren't quite ready to jump into the bigger whitewater. We'll make sure Wilsen sees your compliments. Taking an interest in the people in his raft and sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for the Gorge is exactly the kind of experience we want our guides to provide. We're glad you got a little wet—but not TOO wet—and had such a great time! Thank you for recommending West Virginia Adventures! ~ Crystal
This small family owned business is top notch. The guides were excellent and treated us like friends. If we make it back to West Virginia we would definitely choose them again.
Thank you for the incredible review, Glenn! Being described as "top notch" means a lot to our entire team, but we're especially happy to hear you felt like you were rafting with friends. That's exactly what we want West Virginia Adventures to feel like. We're a smaller family-owned outfitter by choice because we want our guests to be people we get to know—not numbers moving through an assembly line. Thank you for spending your time in West Virginia with us. If your travels bring you back our way, we'll be ready to get you back on the river! ~ Crystal
Great experience! It was a great experience! We would highly recommend them for your rafting activity. They are knowledgeable and very friendly without the big corporation assembly line feel. This small family run business is excellent. Landis and Royce were our guides and we could not have asked for better!
Thank you so much, Phyllis! We love hearing that the personal side of West Virginia Adventures stood out during your trip. Being a smaller family-run outfitter gives us the opportunity to actually get to know the people who are spending the day with us, and that's something we're proud of. We'll make sure Landis and Royce see your compliments. We're lucky to have them, and we're thrilled they made your adventure such a great one. Thank you for supporting our family business and recommending us. We hope this wasn't your last rafting trip with WVA! ~ Crystal
We were so glad to use this small, local, family company. We were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff and welcoming atmosphere. We found our experience to be exciting but safe as first timers to white water rafting! Landis and Royce took great care to provide training, instruction and information through our trip along with entertainment. Picnic lunch along the route was wonderful! We highly recommend this adventure!
Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We're honored you chose our small, local family business for your first whitewater rafting experience. That first trip can come with a few nerves, so we're especially glad Landis and Royce helped everyone feel prepared, comfortable, and safe while still giving you plenty of adventure. Training and instruction are important, but we're pretty sure river-guide entertainment is mandatory too! We're also happy you enjoyed lunch along the river. There's something about eating outside in the middle of the Gorge after paddling a few rapids that makes lunch taste a little better. Thank you for supporting West Virginia Adventures and for the wonderful recommendation. Now that you've officially become rafters, we'll be ready when you want to step it up to the next adventure! ~ Crystal
Four seniors (64 - 78) enjoyed this low key white water rafting experience. Guides Sophie and Kristen were great. We got caught in a brief but heavy rainstorm but still had a wonderful time. Saw a bald eagle, Herron, and ducks. Beautiful scenery.
Thank you for the wonderful review, Sophia! Four adventurers from 64 to 78 enjoying the New River together—we absolutely love it! We'll make sure Sophie and Kristen see your compliments. Even Mother Nature decided to add a little extra water to your trip, but we're glad the rain didn't stop everyone from having a great time. A bald eagle, heron, ducks, beautiful scenery, some fun whitewater, and a good rainstorm sounds like a pretty authentic West Virginia adventure to us! Thank you for spending the day with West Virginia Adventures. ~ Crystal
It was so GREAT!!! We were a mix of experienced rafters and newbies and we all had fun. Our tour guide sophie was an absolute joy and she had the funniest jokes!!! Would definitely recommended this trip and can't wait to try some of the other river trips!!!
We LOVE the enthusiasm, Delaney! Having experienced rafters and first-timers in the same boat can make for one heck of a fun group, and we're thrilled everyone had such a great time. We'll make sure Sophie sees your compliments—although we're not sure her jokes need any additional encouragement! The best part is hearing that you're already thinking about trying some of our other river trips. We'll be ready when you are. There are plenty more rapids waiting for you! ~ Crystal
